I am going to be totally honest. This week was a tough one on the thrift shopping front. I found nothing. Zip. Zero! It was not a good week here. I even made a trip to my favorite spot on the Eastern Shore and it was CLOSED! So for this week I will do a round up of some of my favorite finds plus I will share a blogger that always finds some great thrift shop finds!
Home Tour- Attic Lounge Space
We spent the day at the Island Home yesterday and I thought it would be fun to start a home tour! I am going to kick it off with the Attic Lounge Space.
Thrift Shop Thursday #1
It’s no secret that I have a bit of an obsession with thrift stores. When I say thrift stores, that is kind of a broad statement. I will hunt for great deals at thrift stores, consignment shops, Goodwill, yard/garage sales and even roadside rescues… in other words, someone else’s trash. So I thought it would be fun to start a new series on the blog where I share my favorite finds of the week. So this will be week 1 of
Thrift Shop Thursday
Creating a Home Office Space
We are in the planning stages of creating a home office space. I had originally planned on making an office space in the basement and I did create a desk space that I love which you can see here. BUT it is in the basement and I am just going to say it…that basement scares me to the point that I will not go down there unless someone else is with me. If I am forced to go downstairs by myself, I reach my hand around the corner to turn the light on before I even start down the steps. Then I get what I need and run as fast as I can back up the stairs and shut the door. I consider it my aerobic workout for the day. In all seriousness, it is a nice space but it is too dark for me. The boys like to hang out with their friends and play pool and watch movies. So for now, we will just leave it as the man cave!
Goodwill Goods
On my last trip to Goodwill, ( o.k. I admit it, I go to Goodwill about 3 times a week. This is how my mind works…I work out at a Pilates Studio then I treat myself to a Goodwill trip, sometimes I choose a vintage shop but right now I am obsessing over Goodwill and the new store right down the road has not even opened yet) anyway as I was saying, I found a few more white pieces to complete my shelves in the Dining Room that you can see here.
I really like the look of the white dishes on the shelving in both my kitchen and dining room. I found this ironstone platter (I really don’t know much about ironstone but I like my platter and I LOVE the Goodwill price.)
Family Room Inspiration
We recently completed our Family Room Revamp which you can see here. I am obsessed with the grey, beige and cream color palette. With a more neutral color scheme, you are not locked into just one look. You can switch out the pillows and accessories for a fresh new look for a fraction of the cost.
For inspiration we created a board on Hometalk with some fabulous Family Rooms that you can check out here.
You can get more details about these gorgeous rooms by clicking on the board. I hope you enjoy!
Dining Room Redo
Today I am sharing our Dining Room Redo. I think the easiest change with the most impact was just switching out the paint color! Here’s a before shot. I always forget to take the before shots and at the last minute I get a quick shot with my phone but I think you can get an idea of how it looked.
White on White in the Kitchen
I have been working on styling my glass front cabinets in the kitchen. I love the look of white on white. Eventually, I would like to switch out all of my dishes and platters to white. Mixing all the different pieces looks cohesive but adds a different touch.
I have been collecting white dishes and white ironstone…basically, any type of white pottery that I find unique. I found some great pieces at Goodwill. I also found a few pieces at the local thrift/consignment shop. Another thing that I am really into lately is vintage cutting boards. I like the look of the white with the wood tones in the backgound. We saw some really nice cutting boards in Italy over the Chistmas Holiday which just fueled my desire even more.
Family Room Revamp
Remember when I told my husband if we revamped the kitchen we would have to redo the family room too? Well, we did and it is finished. I feel like we are living in a brand new home now that the Family Room Revamp is complete. Now I am itching to get upstairs and start revamping it as well. My husband is probably still not ready for that conversation!
Designing a White Kitchen with Warmth
Kitchen Details
We are settling into our newly revamped kitchen and I have to say that I just love it! It turned out just the way I pictured it would in my mind. I think we created a white kitchen that still has a lot of warmth. We still need to switch out the chandelier and add pendant lighting. We will get to it at some point but at the moment I am still looking and trying to find what I really want. For now, I wanted to share our journey with you.
