Revamping my Closet with the IKEA Pax Wardrobe

October 1, 2017 By stylishrevamp 37 Comments

Yessss, I’m back! I took a little blogging break over the summer and enjoyed lazy days by the pool and some fun and adventurous travels as well. But now I am ready to share an exciting new makeover.  We had several big projects in the works and the first one I am going to share is my closet revamp using the IKEA Pax Wardrobe.  Yep another IKEA hack!

Buikt-In IKEA Pax Hack

Here it is…I love it.  I find myself just walking in the closet multiple times a day just to enjoy the sight of it.  I still cannot believe the transformation!

IKEA Pax Wardrobe

I love everything about it.  To me it is fabulous, organized and just gorgeous! Now that you’ve seen the beauty…here is the beast we started with.

The first thing we did was rip out the shelving unit and the shoe rack so the hardwood would go wall to wall (another post is coming soon about the new hardwoods) Then I began the process of clearing out the closet.  As much work as it was, I loved going through everything and getting rid of what I no longer wanted or needed. Well, I didn’t love it as I was doing it but it felt great to purge, especially when I was finished. I made several trips to GoodWill.

Here’s a run down of what we did.  We went to IKEA to look at the Pax Wardrobe and get a feel for what we wanted to do.  I am not going to lie, it was a bit overwhelming.  We ended up going back the next day and worked with a sales representative that was able to design our layout on the computer with all the accessories. You can also do this on your own at home. Once we were satisfied with the overall layout and design, she printed off the entire packet which included a layout and all the pieces we needed to buy. That made it so much easier to pick up all the boxes we needed.  Here are a few pictures of the computer renderings of the new closet design.

O.K. I am going to be honest here.  This is about the point I fizzled out.  We had been under construction with the wood floors for about a week but leading up to that I had been clearing out all of our closets and linen closets to prep for the flooring and I was done! To make matters worse, I had given up sugar and I was basically zapped, finished and of very little help!  My hubs gets all the credit for the finished product! I didn’t leaving him completely hanging, I helped out a wee bit when needed!

He wanted to trim the wardrobes out with baseboard and decorative moulding between each wardrobe unit.  He used the same concept that he used on the IKEA Billy Bookcase which you can read about here.  I love the look of the wardrobes with the trim and moulding. It finishes the look off completely. Eek, I am so happy with my new closet!

There are so many options and accessories with the Pax Wardrobe. We chose both glass front and solid drawers, pants pull out hanger,  valet hanger, wire baskets, pull-out tray,  pull-out clothes rail, and a pull- out rack for scarves and belts.  I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this makeover and my hubs gets all the credit on this one!

In the next few days, I will post about the new floors and my bedroom makeover as well!

Designing with the IKEA Book Case

July 22, 2016 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Last year I shared my IKEA Billy Book Case hack, which you can read about here.

StylishRevamp's IKEA Billy Book Case Hack

I am so happy with the way this piece turned out.  So much so, that I would like to do a similar version of it in my sitting room off the master bedroom. At the moment, I have a small but deep armoire that holds my television set and two club chairs in my sitting room.  This is where I normally hang out when I want to watch my mindless reality tv shows that pretty much annoy the males in this household.  It is a cozy little spot but I would like to give it a revamp.  So my hubs said once I come up with a design, he will work on it.

IKEA Billy Bookcase

Designing with the IKEA Bookcase open up many decorating possibilities.

There are so many great IKEA Book Case Hacks out there, so I thought I would share a few here today that might work in my sitting room.

I love this design by AveryStreetDesign.com. You can click on the link for a complete tutorial. I really like the solid doors on the bottom with the glass front doors on the top. Fabulous! I would have to rework the top a bit to accommodate a small television.  I could leave a set of the glass door off in the center or leave the entire top shelves open.  Also, check out the lighting! I love this look from top to bottom!

Memorabledecor.com

I found this Billy Book Case hack on Memorabledecor.com. I like the mix of the open and closed shelving on this Ikea hack.  I also like how the spacing of the shelves are different on the center book-case.  It adds a different dimension to the entire unit.  I think this would work well in my sitting room.

Lastly, I am sharing a Billy Book Case Hack from Southern Revivals.

Yet another favorite of mine! I like the mix of the large and smaller book cases and the large center opening. The options are limitless, that’s why I am a huge fan of all the book cases and shelves at IKEA.  You can easily customize them for a more personal taste.  I cannot wait to get started on this… I need to make a final decision and soon!

Until Next Time,

IKEA BILLY Bookcase Hack

May 6, 2015 By stylishrevamp 28 Comments

I am so excited to share our IKEA BILLY bookcase hack.  I fell in love with the bookcases The Makerista shared. They were gorgeous!  I showed it to my husband and he agreed that they would look great in my soon to be office (although, I am pretty sure he wasn’t even aware at the time that I was transforming the formal living room into my office.) It still cracks me up that we even have a formal living room, we have three boys and a dog, there is nothing formal about this family!  Anyway, back to the bookcases,  my guy pretty much followed the directions The Makerista shared in her post, making a few minor adjustments to fit our space.

I absolutely LOVE these bookcases.  I am still adjusting the styling on the shelves, adding and taking away things everyday which is fun for me.  You will see I am back and forth with the mirror on the center shelf.  I am already thinking about how I will style it during the Christmas Season. Yes, I am that girl!

Check out the rolling library ladder.  I have always wanted one of these but didn’t realize how expensive they were.  I found this one on ebay and we got a great deal.   The stain on the ladder is perfect with our new flooring and like I said it was the best price I have seen on any rolling ladder.  Gman is enjoying it too!

There is really not one thing I would change about this bookcase.  Usually when we are done with a project, my husband will say, “I should have done this or I wish I would have done that” for me this is perfection.  He did such a great job.  He has really been a great sport about doing all these projects for me. As you know, it starts with one project that leads into the next and so on.

This is what we started with…I can’t believe it went from this…
