Vintage Inspired Christmas

December 22, 2020 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Today I am going to wrap up my vintage inspired Christmas home tour with a glimpse into the kitchen and sunroom and also share my version of the DIY paper stars that are making their rounds on Instagram. So here we go!

I have several vintage milk glass Christmas bulbs that I place into vintage or decorative bowls throughout the house.
Vintage Milk Glass Christmas Bulbs

I’m always looking for these when I am out thrift shopping. If I weren’t so afraid of fire, I would love to see them all lit up but I’ll play it safe and enjoy them scattered about the house in decorative bowls.

I had mentioned in my previous post about my moms Putz Christmas village that she would place under the tree. She always created such a magical Christmas village scene. It’s one of my favorite memories of Christmas.

This year a sweet friend sent me 4 Putz Village pieces. It brought me to tears. I placed mine on my tree in the sunroom where the light from the tree lights up the dainty little houses. Love, love, love them!

Vintage Putz House

Last year right before Christmas, I stopped by a thrift shop and they were selling all their Christmas items for $5 a bag. You could stuff an entire bag for $5. I found a box full of antique candle clips, 54 to be exact. I was so excited to use them this year. I found battery operated candles on Amazon that fit the tiny clips perfectly. I added them to the sunroom tree as well as the mantle in the office where we hang our stockings.

Antique Candle Clips
We use the same stockings and I love pulling them out year after year.

I decorate a pencil tree in the kitchen and use the same ornaments year after year. Most of them come from our travels and all the handmade ornaments that they boys have made through the years. The construction paper ornaments have mostly faded over time but they are still my most treasured ornaments.

Homemade Christmas Ornaments

I also add my DIY Christmas sign over the cooktop every year and a few other Christmas touches to make it festive.

My version of the Christmas Trees for Sale sign. I love how my DIY sign turned out.
This is a photo from a few years ago but this is where the sign goes every year. It is usually the first thing I do on December 1st.
Our kitchen table decorated with some candles and greenery.
Vintage candle holders

I don’t know if you scroll Instagram like I do but it seems everyone is making the DIY stars with paper bags and some with paper. I decided to give it a try. It was a quick and simple project. Can you tell I have a lot of extra time on my hands since I haven’t been going anywhere?

I would like to get some pictures of the outside tomorrow or maybe a night time tour. I love when the house is aglow with all the white lights and candles lit. I am hoping to get my youngest to help me with that since he is way more tech savvy them me but not too sure that will happen. So for now, I will say good night and thank you for stopping by my little corner of the world! Merry Christmas!

Christmas Home Tour 2019

December 22, 2019 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

The trees are trimmed, the gifts are wrapped, the treats are made and all the Hallmark movies have been watched multiple times. Since I have spent most of my time lounging and watching countdown to Christmas nonstop, I have to do one big home tour this year instead of room by room. Next year my friends, I will be more productive! Until then, let the tour begin.

We also made a video tour which you can check out here.

The Sunroom

Let’s start in the sunroom which is where I have spent the majority of my time this past month. Yes, you guessed it, this is where the movie watching occurs.

A few months ago, I switched out the carpet and the curtains. I like this look so much better than the blue that was in here. It wouldn’t be a lie if I told you I had Christmas in mind when I made the switch.

Look at this vintage light up Santa that my dear friend sent me this year. I am obsessed with him. I finished off this look with a mini flocked tree and a tea light candle in a decorative jar. This is my favorite vignette this year.

Moving on to the Family Room

Most of my decor remains the same from year to year. The only new addition is the tree skirt that I got on sale after Christmas last year from Magnolia Market.

Oops, I forgot…the skates are new to me this year as well.

Next we will head into the dining room.

I kept this room pretty much the same as last year. I did add the basket with greenery and red berries. I love my stamped spoons with the 12 Days of Christmas.

Next, we will head upstairs.

This is the sitting room off of our Master Bedroom. I love this little space. Notice the vintage stockings on the ladder. I picked these up on ETSY last year. They remind me off the ones my siblings and parents had when we were growing up.

When my son moved out, I redecorated his room. We added this vintage mantle that used to be at our island home. It’s not quite finished but I love it.

Here’s a quick peek into my youngest son’s room. It is so cute and festive.

I hope you enjoyed this quick tour into our home. Merry Christmas enjoy the Holiday Season.

Until Next Time,

A View of our Christmas Home

December 17, 2018 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Only 8 more day before Christmas is upon us.  I finished up my wrapping today which I am so happy to have it done.  Every year, I say I am going to wrap as I go but next year I really mean it.  I don’t know why I put it off for so long this year.  Next up on my to do list is grocery shopping and food prep but not today.

Today, I am continuing my home tour.  I am sharing our Christmas kitchen and family room.  My kitchen tree is another slim tree  and it holds handmade ornaments that the boys made years ago.  It is also where I put the ornaments that we picked up on our travels.

Kitchen Christmas Tour

Kitchen Christmas tree

I always place our DIY Christmas Tree sign out first.  It kind of kicks off the Holiday season for us.  You can see the tutorial here. I also added mini trees to the DIY window wreaths.  You can see a bit of the wreath in the photo. It is hard to get a good picture of the windows.

DIY wood Christmas Tree Sign

Three tiered tray dressed for Christmas

I added some mini Christmas trees and candles to my tray which was a thrift store find.

Vintage Red Toy truck carrying a Christmas tree

Another favorite I pull out each year is my husband’s childhood toy truck. I love the little wreath that I added to it last year.

DIY chalkboard with Santa's reindeer

I used a chalk pen to list Santa’s reindeer and added a red pom-pom with a glue dot to complete Rudolph’s name. The Santa going down the chimney and the sled are vintage inspired.  They make an appearance every year.

A view into the the Kitchen from our Family Room

Family Room Christmas Tour

From the kitchen, we will head into the family room.  This is the only real tree that we have.  I enjoy having a real tree and I don’t find it to be messy at all other than the taking down part.  I still think it is totally worth it!

Our real Christmas tree in the family room

My husband and I still wait until the boys are in bed on Christmas Eve to place the gifts under the tree.  Even though two of the three are adults and the third is 15.  You are never too old to believe!

Fireplace Mantle dressed for Christmas

I kept the fireplace the same as it was last year.  I like the traditional red during the holiday. The yarn tree on the coffee table is new this year.  I used the leftover yarn from my braided garland to make this DIY Christmas Tree.

DIY yarn Christmas tree

Another DIY Christmas project is the two twig stars I made. I made a large star and a smaller one.  The smaller one is on my office tree. I was originally going to put the larger one on my family room tree but it hasn’t made it to the top of the tree yet.  Maybe Santa will do it on Christmas Eve!

HomeGood find

I picked up this little tree at Homegoods while waiting in line to make a return.  Good things can happen while waiting in the checkout line.

Goodwill Metal Christmas Tree

This was a Goodwill find several years ago.  I just use it to for some of my vintage inspired  ornaments. My Christmas Mantle

My Christmas tour will wrap up tomorrow with a quick  glimpse into the sitting room in my master bedroom.  Thanks for joining me on the tour of our Holiday Home!

Holiday Home Tour

December 16, 2018 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Only nine more days until Christmas and I am finally posting  part of our Holiday Home Tour.  I really do not switch things up too much from year to year.  I like the traditions we have in place and the memories we have created but I do like to add a few new decor items whether they are DIY projects or new to me items.  Today I am sharing our dining room and my home office. With that said, sit back and enjoy our Holiday Home Tour. I am so happy you are here!

Home Office Holiday Home Tour

DIY 25 sign

The sign is a new addition this year. I was inspired by Heather Tartaglia from The Morning House.  I made this DIY just like all of my other signs that you can check out here and here. I like the view into the sunroom from my office.

Pencil tree with DIY Braided

I bought this pencil tree at Michaels a few years ago for a little over $30.  I flocked it last year with this product I bought on amazon.  I used the same flock on the DIY star topper that I made from twigs gathered from our yard. It was a quick and easy project that I will try to do a mini tutorial on later this week.  The braided garland is also another DIY project that was inspired by Erin@CottonStem.  The last new item in my office is the tree collar that I ordered from Home Depot. I really like this tree collar because it is adjustable, you can make it larger or smaller and it latches with a hook and chain.

Here's an up close view of the braided garland.

Here’s a close up of my DIY braided garland.  I picked up my chunky yarn at Michaels and used my 40% off coupon so it ended up being a little over 17$.  I love this new addition to the tree! Thanks Erin for the great idea!

Dining Room Christmas Holiday Tour

O.k.we are switching gears and heading into the dining room.   I added a few touches of Christmas sprinkled throughout the room. Here are a two of my favorites.

A view into my Office at Christmas time.

I use my bread bowl as a center piece by adding some greenery with red glass beads and some gold ornaments.  I like the glimpse of the Office Christmas tree you can see peaking around the corner.

Large vintage copper bowl with a vintage table cloth on the buffet table

This buffet is my absolute favorite piece of furniture in the entire house! I’m a bit obsessed with it to say the least.  I picked up the vintage table-cloth over the summer when I was home junking with my mama. I actually bought it in the vintage store that used to be our old apartment. You can read about that here.   I remember mom used to have one like this that she used for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner. I like to think that this was actually hers.  I’m always on the lookout for vintage Christmas textiles. I guess it just reminds me of Christmas time from my past. I hope my boys will one day look back at our traditions and pass some of them on to their future families.

I hope you enjoyed this small little glimpse into our Holiday Home Tour.  I will be back tomorrow with a mini tour of our Kitchen and Family Room and end the last home tour on Tuesday with our Sitting Room Christmas decor.  Thanks for stopping by to visit us!

Until Next Time,

Cozy Christmas Home Tour

December 21, 2017 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Hi everyone! I am back to share another peek into our Christmas Home.  Other than the kitchen, the rooms I am sharing are where I spend most of my time.  Today, you will see our sunroom and our sitting room off of the master bedroom. The sitting room is the coziest room in the house. Even though it is small, I love having a Christmas tree in here.   So let’s get started in the sitting room.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour

I love the vintage feeder. I added some greenery and the red letters to add a pop of color.

I love this sign above the bed! You can see how I made it here and here.  The process is the same.

I didn’t get around to sharing the faux fireplace my husband built for our youngest but I wanted to show you how cute it is decked out for Christmas.  I will post the design and build in a separate post.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour

Next, I will show you the sunroom.  This is where we hang out the most but Santa leaves the gifts under the tree in the Family room which you can see here.

Flocked Christmas Tree from Walmart

I ordered this tree from Walmart.  It is heavily flocked and kind of sparse looking which I adore. I forgot to mention but the tree in the sitting room is also from Walmart.  Both of them were CHEAP!

Mini Christmas tree with a vintage table cloth for a tree skirt

A few years back my husband came home with a little table top tree and we have continued with that tradition.  I think it is so cute.  The tree skirt is actually a vintage table-cloth that I picked up in Florida several years ago.  It reminds me of one my mom used to have. I think decorating for Christmas brings back so many happy memories and that’s why I enjoy it so much.

You can see a glimpse into my office and the foyer in the picture above.  My goal for tomorrow is to do a final Christmas Tour which will include my office and the foyer.  I finished my baking again today since someone pretty much wiped out everything I have baked up until this point and I have already decided I am on a break from the gym until January so I should be able to do a final post.  I say should just in case I get sucked into the Hallmark Channel again.

Night Time Christmas Home Tour

December 21, 2016 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

This is my first time sharing a night-time Christmas home tour.  I am learning how to use my (Gman’s) camera. I love, love, love how our home looks at night.  I like to stay up late, when the house is quiet and peaceful, and enjoy the twinkling lights with a cocktail or two!

I will start with the family room.  I mentioned this before but this is where we open presents Christmas morning.

We have several trees through out the house but this one is our only live tree.

The next room I am going to share is the sunroom. The sunroom is where we spend most of our time during the day.  It is cozy and comfortable.

The following room is one of my favorites, my home office…love this room!

Yep, love this room!

The last stop on the tour is the sitting room off of the master bedroom.  This is where I wrap the gifts (sitting on the floor) and watch all my favorite shows that I don’s always admit to watching! Let’s just say besides HGTV, Bravo and E are my favorite channels! Although at Christmas time, I am watching a lot of Christmas movies!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season filled with love, laughter, happiness and health!

Christmas Home Tour Part 2

December 20, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I cannot believe there are only 5 days left until Christmas. I wish that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas would  slow down a bit.  I enjoy relaxing at home when the house is all decorated and it is cold outside but it flies by in the blink of an eye.

Last week I shared our Christmas Kitchen and today I wanted to share the rest of our home for Part 2 of our Christmas Tour.  Tomorrow evening I plan to share the Night Time Home Tour.  I think twinkling lights make everything look prettier.

This post is loaded with pictures and skimpy on words! I hope you enjoy this peak into our home.

I will share a bit more of my Home office during the Night Time Christmas tour but next up, I wanted to share with you our dining room chandelier!

Revamping an old chandelier with ornaments from the Dollar Store

Yep, we still have our builder grade chandelier in the dining room.  Sixteen years later and we still have not replaced it!  During the Holidays, I like to add these Dollar Store gold ornaments to the chandelier.  It’s a quick an easy way to add a bit of glam.  Maybe next year we will have found the perfect chandelier…or not!

DIY Driftwood Christmas Tree

A few years ago, I made my version of a Driftwood Christmas.  You can find the details here.

I hope you enjoyed this quick little tour…stop by tomorrow evening for our First Annual Night Home Tour.

How to Make an Easy DIY Christmas Sign

November 8, 2016 By stylishrevamp 1 Comment

How I made My DIY Christmas Tree for Sale Sign.

I know we just got through Halloween and we have several weeks before Thanksgiving arrives but today I wanted to share with you an easy DIY Christmas project.  Yes, I said it Christmas.  I love, love, love Christmas but it is too early even for me to begin decorating.

Now having said that, last year on The Fixer Upper, I saw a Christmas sign that I loved and knew that I wanted one.  By the time I saw it though, it was too late to make it and enjoy it over the holiday season.   So I wanted to get a jump on it for this year’s Christmas Season, that is why I am sharing my “How to make and Easy DIY Christmas sign” before we have even had a chance to eat the turkey and stuffing!

DIY Wooden Christmas Trees for Sale Sign

The first thing I had to do was pick up a piece of plywood at Home Depot.  Surprisingly, I did not have any scrap wood around that I could use.  Apparently, the garage clean out this summer was a bit too thorough.  Anyway, I trimmed the wood down to the size I needed to fit over my cooktop.  Then I gave it a quick sanding before giving it two coats of white paint.  Any paint on hand will do.  I originally wanted to spray it with my chalked paint by rustoleum but it was too windy outside and I was impatient so I used some leftover white paint from a previous project and rolled it on…it took about two minutes. (Which reminds me, I need to share with you in a later post a tip on tacky/sticky paint…remind me if I forget)

prep work for my DIY wooden sign

While the paint was drying, I used my stencils to create a pattern for the lettering.  It was easier for me to trace my stencil letters on computer paper then lay the design out on the wood.  It made the placement and spacing of the words easier.

Tracing my letters using carbon paper.

Once I decided on the layout, I placed carbon paper underneath the letters and lightly traced over them.  I only wanted to leave a light outline of the letters.  I wasn’t sure how well the paint would cover over the carbon imprint.

Tracing my letters using carbon paper.

DIY Christmas Trees for Sale Sign

When all the lettering was transferred to the wood, it was time to start painting.  I knew I would never be able to hand paint each letter neatly and stay within the lines.  That’s where the Sharpie Paint Pen comes in…I LOVE these paint pens!  I also used them on my DIY driftwood sign that you can see here.  It makes painting letters so easy!

Painting with the sharpie paint pen.

I had Gman finish painting for me.  It really is simple.  It is just like using a regular sharpie.  I would never have been able to paint the letters freehand using a paint brush.  This was easy and quick.

My version of the Christmas Trees for Sale sign. I love how my DIY sign turned out.

I am trying to decide if I want to add any trim to the border, paint a trim, or just leave it as is.  Once I am really ready to decorate for Christmas, I will had some greenery or something on the vent hood surround to break up all of the white.  Until then, I will continue with my Christmas projects!

Until Next Time,

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

December 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I am really enjoying the Holiday Season this year.  My home is all decked out, my gifts are bought and my baking has begun! I love everything about the Christmas Season.

For this year’s Christmas Home Tour, I thought I would divide it into several different posts and share a room or two at a time.

So here we go, Welcome to the Family Room Christmas Tour 2015!

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

The Family Room is where we have our main tree.   When my oldest was born, my husband was so excited to have a son,  he went out and bought a 13 foot live tree.  It was huge and all I kept thinking was, “How will I ever decorate this thing?”  I remember my husband saying, “Just this once we can have a large tree.” Well, that was 20 years ago, and some things never change.  It has become a tradition.  We always have a large live tree in the family room.  This is where we leave our cookies and milk for Santa and he leaves our gifts under this tree.

fireplace Christmas Mantel in Family room 2015

We leave cookies and milk for Santa on the hearth of the fireplace.

Family Room Christmas Tree

It took us almost 2 hours to get this tree in the tree stand properly. That is my least favorite part about having a live tree.  Some people complain about the needles dropping and the mess it can make.  None of that bothers me.  I love the smell of a Christmas tree in the home and it is worth that struggle of getting it into the stand when it’s all decorated!

Christmas 2015 Family Room

I usually keep it pretty simple in here.  The Tree is the centerpiece in this room.  I dress the mantel, the tables and I toss a few Christmas pillows on the sofas and chairs and that’s about it for this room!

I shared my Christmas card holder here on Thrift Shop Thursday. The only other thing I did to the sofa table was add some red berries rings to my candlesticks to give them a festive look.

This is the view into the kitchen from the Family Room.  I will be sharing my Christmas Kitchen tomorrow and thought I would give you a little sneak peek.  I hope you enjoyed the Family Room Christmas Tour…

I am off to wrap some presents before the Gman gets home from school!

Hope you have a great week.

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites: Christmas Edition Part 2

December 11, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is here.  The Gman and I are going to go on our annual Christmas outing.  We like to go to the local nursery and see the trains and decorations.  Then it’s off to do some of his Christmas shopping and dinner. I love to see how much thought he puts into each and every gift. My middle guy has his last final today and my oldest is home for a week before traveling back to school to take one last final. It should be a great weekend.

Now it is time to share some of my picks for Friday Favorites.  This is part 2 of my Christmas Edition.

Sharing some of my favorite Christmas finds.

Over the past couple of years, I have been filling some of my flower pots with fresh clipping to add some Christmas Cheer outside.  These will last me until late February.  This year I found some Christmas Floral Picks with large plastic ornaments. I found mine at our local Grocery Store but I have seem them at Home Depot too.  I had originally seen this idea on a Sarah Richardson’s Christmas Special several years ago.  (I am still waiting for some new Christmas shows on HGTV.)  This is my take on the outdoor planters.

Outdoor Trimmings for Christmas

Outdoor Planters prepped fro Christmas.

I love a home all decked out for the Holidays!

Earlier this week, I went to Target.  I have not been there for a while and now I remember why. I absolutely love every single thing in there!  I was trapped for hours in just one section.  The pillows, the lamps, the Christmas Decor…I had to force myself to walk away.  Well, I did pick up  one little thing…

Target Holiday salt and pepper shakers

Are these not the cutest salt and pepper shakers you have ever seen?  I am itching to go back to Target…just to look!

Every year for as long as I can remember, my youngest has asked for Reindeer for the outside.  I have always said no because, 1.)We have so many decoration and 2.) We have no space to store anything else Christmas related.

He would stare longingly at our neighbor’s Reindeer every day and mention how nice they looked.

Well, this is what we have now!

Pre-lit Reindeer from Michaels

This was on sale at Michaels.  There are so many things I like about this Reindeer.   It  folds down into one small section. It all fits inside itself.  I like the glittery gold aspect of it and I like that the head moves when it is lit up.

So Gman, sorry I made you wait almost 10 years to finally get your reindeer! XOXO

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Until Next Time,
