Christmas Home Tour part 2

December 19, 2017 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Yes, this was supposed to go up on Sunday but I am truly obsessed with the Hallmark Channel at the moment.  I cannot get enough of it hence the late post and now the need to double up on the rest of my room tours.  So today will be both the kitchen and the dining room Christmas tours.  On a positive note, most of my wrapping is done as well as my baking!

O.k. let’s get started in the kitchen.  Most of my kitchen has remained the same with just a few new items to share.

My white kitchen decked out for Christmas with pops of red.

Christmas Tree with Tree Collar

The banner hanging in the window is new this year.  I picked it up at our local barn show.  It is reminiscent of a vintage banner that’s why I love it.

I love my husband's vintage red truck decked out for the holidays.

My husband’s red truck is an oldie but a favorite, especially with the wreath on the bumper and a Christmas tree in the back of the truck.

Goodwill finds and a little something vintage

This little ceramic camper is new for this years decor.  I picked it up at Goodwill last year after Christmas.  I adore this piece and it will always remind me of the sweet woman that bought it for me. I was strolling around Goodwill after Christmas last year and they had several pretty Santa mugs and these little campers.  So I was scooping them up and putting them in my cart and when the sweetest woman came up to me and we starting chatting about what I was going to do with them.  I told her I would keep a few for myself and the rest I would fill with candy,  it would make a great hostess or teacher gift. So she started loading her cart up and thanked me for the idea. When I went to pay, the kind woman had already paid for my purchases and had already left.

The Santa beside the camper is a vintage napkin holder that I have had for a while. I picked it up at our local antique shop.

Christmas Home Tour

Ok, now onto the dining room.  We will have our Christmas Eve dinner in here as well as our Christmas Day Brunch.

A dining room dressed for Christmas.

I absolutely love all the pops of red this year in our Christmas decor.

A dough bowl filled with greenery and shiny gold Christmas ornaments for a simple centerpiece.

I will set the dining room table on the 23rd for our Christmas Eve dinner.  I will do an instagram story of the table once it’s complete. I picked up some new napkins on etsy that are super cute. I will probably use my vintage Christmas Ironstone for Brunch and my holly china on Christmas Eve.

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas DIY sign in the dining room.

I made this sign last year.  You can read about it here.

Tomorrow, if I don’t get sucked into the Hallmark Channel again, I will do a post on a few more rooms.  Hopefully, I will be caught up before Christmas Eve.  Thanks for stopping by…

Until Next Time,

Decorating for Christmas in the Kitchen

December 15, 2016 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Decorating for Christmas can be so exhausting but I really enjoy the process.  I love pulling out all the decorations from years past, each ornament and decoration holds a special memory.  I can spend hours reminiscing. My Kitchen Tree holds all of the handmade ornaments that my boys have made over the years and most of the ornaments that we have picked up during our travels.

My Christmas Kitchen Home Tour

One of my favorite things about this time of year is coming down in the morning when it is still pitch black outside and my tree in the kitchen is already lit.  Most mornings my husband is the first one up and he lights the tree and changes the days on our countdown sign. I think the kitchen looks so warm and inviting with the white twinkling lights from the tree.  It is so peaceful before the chaos of the day begins. Decorating for Christmas in the Kitchen is the first room I decorate and I wanted to share it with you today.  Most of the decor you have seen before, like I have said I love using all of our things from the past with just a few new additions sprinkled in…I hope you enjoy!

This DIY Christmas Trees for sale sign is new this year. You can read more about it here.

Kitchen Christmas Tree

I also added this red, metal tree collar this year and I love it.  I picked it up last year after Christmas at Crate and Barrel on clearance.

Mug tree with a beautiful Santa mug

This one is an oldie but a favorite.  21 years ago, exactly one week after my oldest was born my husband had to travel to Germany and a wife of his colleague sent this Santa mug home with him for me. I absolutely adore this mug.  It brings back memories of that first Christmas with our first baby boy.

Christmas pillow

I picked this Christmas pillow up at Marshalls in October or early November. I am glad I did because they sold out quickly!

DIY Christmas Wreaths

I made three mini wreaths for the windows this year.  I always add my Kitchen Santa, along with my DIY Christmas Countdown and my hand painted NOEL letters.  Sometimes I come down in the morning and NOEL has become LEON so far, no one has copped to it.

Lastly, I added this DIY sign which you can read more about here.

I hope you enjoyed this quick glimpse into our Christmas Kitchen Tour for 2016.  I will be back later this week to share more of our Christmas home. Thanks for stopping by…

White on White in the Kitchen

February 17, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I have been working on styling my glass front cabinets in the kitchen.  I love the look of white on white.  Eventually, I would like to switch out all of my dishes and platters to white.  Mixing all the different pieces looks cohesive but adds a different touch.

I have been collecting white dishes and white ironstone…basically, any type of white pottery that I find unique.  I found some great pieces at Goodwill.  I also found a few pieces at the local thrift/consignment shop.  Another thing that I am really into lately is vintage cutting boards.  I like the look of the white with the wood tones in the backgound. We saw some really nice cutting boards in Italy over the Chistmas Holiday which just fueled my desire even more.

Designing a White Kitchen with Warmth

Kitchen Details

We are settling into our newly revamped kitchen and I have to say that I just love it!  It turned out just the way I pictured it would in my mind.  I think we created a white kitchen that still has a lot of warmth. We still need to switch out the chandelier and add pendant lighting.  We will get to it at some point but at the moment  I am still looking and trying to find what I really want.  For now, I wanted to share our journey with you.

Painting Kitchen Cabinets White

December 6, 2014 By stylishrevamp 7 Comments

Finally, the kitchen is done! ( Minus a chandelier, pendant lighting and under cabinet lighting. One I think the electrician needs a break from me (sorry Carl) and two we haven’t found the exact pieces we want.) It really did not take that long from start to finish it just feels that way.  We started seriously thinking about redoing the kitchen in  late August early September and we finished the week of Thanksgiving.  The outcome was exactly what I was hoping for and more!

So check it out!

Kitchen Revamp

September 29, 2014 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I have been working on a project with my husband for the last couple of weeks and I am so excited about our plans.  I just hope it turns out like I have pictured it in my head.  We have been talking about redoing our kitchen for awhile now and when the freezer went out again among other things we finally decided to move ahead.  Since our home has an open floor plan I told my husband if we do the kitchen then we have to do the familyroom. The familyroom is just cosmetic changes though, the major changes will be happening in the kitchen. Then one thing led to another and so here we are still in the planning stages but slowly and steadily moving forward.

Kitchen Canisters

September 4, 2013 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I bought these kitchen canisters from a consignment shop about 5 years ago for a few dollars.  When I picked them up, they had  maple wooden tops and I knew that I would paint them.  Well, I did paint them and they were fine but when we decided to redo the kitchen by painting the cabinets, the walls and the ceiling the canisters kind of got paint splatters all over them.  So I decided to give them a quick update.

DSCN3582 I started by repainting the tops again with the left over paint from my son’s headboard which you can find here.

DSCN3596  Next, I used a Sharpie paint pen in white to write on the tops of the lids.

Such a simple and easy project for under $5 and that includes the cost of the canisters,

White Kitchen Renovation

We have been working on the kitchen.  When we first went to view the home, the kitchen had formica counter tops and pickled oak cabinets.  It was very well maintained but just seemed so outdated to me and I couldn’t wait to get started on the kitchen revamp.  Here is what we have done so far.

The first thing we did was paint the cabinets a bright white. The small island was painted grey. The main counters are done in  photo-4 copy 24

The island is done in Silestone Tao.  I liked the contrast between the main counetertops and the island.

We would still like to add a subway tile backsplash and I need to add some accent pieces.  So far I am very, very happy with the way it has turned out.

This is what it looked like when we went to view the home (I got the photos from the real estate brochure).

So after seeing this, I still wanted this house. I dreamed about this house for months after we went to see it.  I knew one day it could look like this:

White Kitchen with Farm Table

And I love it…It is one of my most favorite places to be and I am always sad when it is time to leave!
