Decorating for Christmas can be so exhausting but I really enjoy the process. I love pulling out all the decorations from years past, each ornament and decoration holds a special memory. I can spend hours reminiscing. My Kitchen Tree holds all of the handmade ornaments that my boys have made over the years and most of the ornaments that we have picked up during our travels.
One of my favorite things about this time of year is coming down in the morning when it is still pitch black outside and my tree in the kitchen is already lit. Most mornings my husband is the first one up and he lights the tree and changes the days on our countdown sign. I think the kitchen looks so warm and inviting with the white twinkling lights from the tree. It is so peaceful before the chaos of the day begins. Decorating for Christmas in the Kitchen is the first room I decorate and I wanted to share it with you today. Most of the decor you have seen before, like I have said I love using all of our things from the past with just a few new additions sprinkled in…I hope you enjoy!
This DIY Christmas Trees for sale sign is new this year. You can read more about it here.
I also added this red, metal tree collar this year and I love it. I picked it up last year after Christmas at Crate and Barrel on clearance.
This one is an oldie but a favorite. 21 years ago, exactly one week after my oldest was born my husband had to travel to Germany and a wife of his colleague sent this Santa mug home with him for me. I absolutely adore this mug. It brings back memories of that first Christmas with our first baby boy.
(Decorating with my husband’s childhood toy truck)
I picked this Christmas pillow up at Marshalls in October or early November. I am glad I did because they sold out quickly!
I made three mini wreaths for the windows this year. I always add my Kitchen Santa, along with my DIY Christmas Countdown and my hand painted NOEL letters. Sometimes I come down in the morning and NOEL has become LEON so far, no one has copped to it.
Christmas Decorating in the Kitchen
(My youngest made this pine cone Snowman several years ago in school.)
Our Elf on the Shelf still makes an appearance every year. He appears to be better behaved than most elves we have seen. Could be that mom and dad are just too old for those antics!
Lastly, I added this DIY sign which you can read more about here.
I hope you enjoyed this quick glimpse into our Christmas Kitchen Tour for 2016. I will be back later this week to share more of our Christmas home. Thanks for stopping by…
Until Next Time,
