My Obsession with Pillows

May 24, 2018 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Awhile back, a friend shared this tweet with me and asked if it reminded me of anyone…

I’m secretly doing an investigation on how many decorative pillows I can put around the house till husband loses his shit.

If you listen to Instagram stories, almost every single person talks about their “obsessions.” They’re obsessed with a new lipstick, outfit, shoes and the list goes on and on.  Well, in all honesty, I do not think it’s a real obsession unless they are hiding their crap in the back of their car, a closet or some secret compartment in an ottoman.  If they are… then it just may be a real honest to goodness obsession!

Now, we are going to see if my husband actually reads this little blog because if he does the gig is up! Today I am sharing my obsession with pillows and it may be a real obsession. Husband of mine, you may want to stop reading at this point!

My Obsession with Pillows

I feel like my love of pillows is a fairly new thing for me.  It probably started a few years back at Christmas time.  I mean have you seen some of the fabulous pillow designs around the holidays?  I really think that is where this all began and it has since spiraled into other holidays and seasons.  It is so easy to change the look of a room with a few pillows.

Let’s start with my most recent purchase.  If I’m being totally honest, I order this months ago but it was on backorder and I kind of forgot about it until it showed up on my doorstep yesterday.

Painted Fox darling pillow

I debated on this one for a while but it was too cute to pass up. I order it from The Painted Fox and it makes a lovely addition to the other 50 pillows on our bed!  While I was waiting for this pillow to come in (or forgot that I ordered it, however you want to look at it) I found another one that has since been moved to the chest at the end of our bed.

Painted Fox Darling pillow with some Homegoods finds mixed in

I was kind of hoping my husband wouldn’t notice but he did. You can’t see them all but there are actually only 9 pillows on our bed.  To be fair I sleep with 2 of those 9.

Now on to my sitting room which is a little cozy nook off of our bedroom.  I have two chairs and an ottoman in this room.  It is where I watch all of my shows. It is a news free zone!

Holiday pillows stored in my Ikea Ektorp Ottoman

If you are wondering what this is, it is my hidden loot.  I have four Holiday pillows stored in my ottoman.  Next year, when I start to decorate for Christmas, can someone please remind me that they are in there?  You know I am going to forget!

GoodWill credenza and DIY Shelving

Yes, there are several pillows inside my Goodwill Credenza.  This piece is great for hiding/storing extra pillows. I also have my Fall pillows stored in my closet.

Adding pops of green in a neutral bedroom

Since my oldest son has graduated and moved out, I redid his room.  It’s probably a little more my style now than his, hence the green decorative pillow.  I will share more on his old room in the next few weeks.

More Homegoods Pillows

This is another bedroom revamp,  I added these decorative pillows to all white bedding to finish off the look.  I will share this room in a few weeks as well.

Decorative Pillows

Adding blush pillows to a grey family room

I added blush pillows to the family room recently.  I thought there would be some push back on the color choice. Either no one has noticed or they really do not care.  I think this room transforms the most by changing out the pillows.  Apparently, I am the only one…still no comment from the other members of this household.  Maybe that is why I keep buying pillows…no one notices!

Pillows add softness to the Kitchen

This pillow on my bench in the kitchen is one of my favorites and has been around for several years.  I really like the texture of it.   It is very reminiscent of the Magnolia line of pillows minus the cost. The pillows in my office are also similar to the Magnolia line as well.  I picked them up at HomeGoods for a great price.

A magnolia market dupe found at Homegoods

It’s a good dupe isn’t it?

I added a few new pillows to the sunroom and kept my favorite whale pillow. Charlie is always laying up against it.

more hidden pillows.

Thrift Shop Thursday #27

April 28, 2016 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I am late again this week.  We have had a lot going on but things are starting to wind down a bit.  Now here we are again at another Thrift Shop Thursday #27. Some of my picks this week are not exactly from thrift shops but I did get some great deals.

Thrift Shop Finds

I found this adorable little mouse tea light holder in a small town on the Eastern Shore. We were actually at a Harry Potter Festival in the midst of a scavenger hunt when I stumble across this little tea light.

Metal Tea Light Holder

Even though I am scared to death of mice, I still think this is a cute tea light. At first, I was superstitious about decorating with it.  I kept thinking, the minute I add it to my bookshelf, we are going to get mice. I don’t know why, but that is the way my brain works.

I like picking up little things like this to add to my home, something unique that adds a bit of whimsy! With a male dominate household, a girl needs a bit of whimsy!

Next, I picked up this lantern at HomeGoods several months ago. I knew that I wanted to add it to my sunroom for a casual “beachy” feel.

Lantern from HomeGoods

The wood on the lantern reminds me of driftwood. I like that it doesn’t look like something that I just picked up. It looks as if it has been well loved over time.  It has a weather look to it and you know I love driftwood,  you can see some of my projects here, here and here. I think it fits into my sunroom perfectly.

Remember last week when I was talking about my poinsettias?

Well, they are still alive, although one is looking a little droopy.  I think it needs to be in a place in my home that does not get as much sunlight.  Well, last week I mentioned that I had picked up a silver ice bucket and I wanted to share that with you.

Silver Ice Bucket from GoodWill

This is such a nice, thick and solid silver ice bucket.  I picked it up for a dollar. Yes, it was a dollar, one, $1 dollar.  I have seen similar items like this at PotteryBarn ranging from $79-$89.  So for a dollar, I am using it for a planter. I will let you know if this baby survives until Christmas which is only 8 months away!

Lastly, I am sharing my tobacco baskets.  Love, love love these baskets.  I have searched for these at every antique, thrift, and  consignment shop I have come across with no luck. ZERO! ZIP! ZILCH!

Decorating with Tobacco Baskets

I was finally able to pick these up from Decor Steals.  If you are not familiar with this site you need to check it out.  I have bought a few things from them and have been happy with all of my purchases. Basically,  at 10 a.m. Eastern time, they offer a deal of the day. The items are about 80% off retail prices, they sell fast, and each day is different.

As for the pig, we have had him for so long, I can’t remember where he came from, it’s like he has always been here!

I feel like when I go thrift shopping, if I have in mind what I want, I never find it!

Built-ins and decorating

I have been looking for something, anything for the top shelf of this built-in for such a long time. I decorate it for Christmas and the Autumn season but the rest of the time, I struggle.  If you all have any ideas let me know.  Until then I will keep searching all my favorite thrift shops!

Have a great weekend.

Until Next Time,

Thrift Shop Thursday #26

April 15, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Welcome to Thrift Shop Thursday #26.  Yes, I know today is Friday but I have been running behind all week! Not to mention the fact that I have not posted a Thrift Shop Thursday in several weeks, YIKES! Going to the gym every day is making me lazy!

This weeks treasures come from a few of my favorite places…Goodwill, plus a local consignment shop, HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx.  All of my favorite stops after the gym.

So let’s get started with Thrift Shop Thursday #26

Thrift Shop Thursday #26

My first find comes from Goodwill.  I like finding random little bits of basically nothing!  I will pick something up that cost mere pennies and think to myself I can use this somewhere for something! That’s why this blue base came home with me. It  kind of scares me because I have watched a few episodes of Hoarders.  So I guess I am glad that I do have a bit of OCD because that helps me keep everything neat, clean and organized!

Blue ceramic candle holder from Goodwill

When we revamped the sunroom, the bookcases needed an update as well.  (I will share more on that in a later post.)  I am not even sure what the blue little bowl was used for but it works perfectly as a candle holder.

White Vase and Cream bowl/candle holder

I picked the white vase up at our local consignment shop.  It’s a Kaiser W Germany pottery piece. I thought it was a sweet little vase.  I have seen several different variations of this piece on ebay and I definitely did not pay the same price at the thrift shop.  That is why I love consignment shopping so much.  I love finding great pieces at great prices.  I also picked up the white bowl at Goodwill at the same time I picked up the blue bowl, knowing that I was going to use it for a candle holder as well…just more of my little bits of nothing from GoodWill.

HomeGoods find

I found this vase at HomeGoods.  I thought it was really different than anything I have and it looks great in the bookcase in the sunroom too.  The Gman said it looks like Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean.  Yep, I still like it even after that little comment from the 12 year old!

Black and Gold Acrylic Initial from Goodwill

This was another GoodWill find! I have seen these letters at HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx but they never have the black and gold “K”.  As soon as I saw it, I scooped it up but made a promise to myself that this was the very last letter I will put in our home…ever… or until I find another one that I really, really like!  I wanted the black and gold one for my office.  It’s on my Billy Bookcase and I love it!

styling my IKEA Billy Bookcase

Looking at this picture, I can see a lot of my Thrift Shop finds are used to style my  Bookcase.

Lastly, I am sharing a clearance item from T.J. Maxx.

Potted Faux Plant

I think this is adorable!  Usually, I am not one for faux plants but I thought if Joanna Gaines uses them in her design than it’s good enough for me!  I struggle with keeping plants alive although not to brag or anything (HAHA) but I still have two Poinsettias that are thriving.   Well, actually my husband has kept them alive! I don’t have the patience for it!  They are now turning green so I am curious to see how long he can keep them alive.  I know what you’re thinking and no it does not look “Chirstmassy” especially now that they are turning green.  Maybe I will share it next week because I just bought a silver ice bucket at GoodWill to keep the 2nd plant in instead of my snowman pot. HAHA.  I told you going to the gym is making me a bit lazy.  Although we did get snow last week so technically the snowman pot did not look that out of place!

Thanks for stopping by Thrift Shop Thursday edition #26.  Have a great weekend.  I for one am so glad it is Friday!

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites

January 9, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Welcome to my first Friday Favorites of 2016.  Yes, my first Friday Favorites and I am late getting this out!  Most of my favorite picks come from Target and HomeGoods this week.

My Friday Favorites come from Target and Homegoods this Week.

Our home feels so stark since we took all of the Christmas decorations down.  I think everyone feels this way once the Christmas decorations are packed away and the twinkling lights are gone.  I would like to have twinkling lights up year round if I could get away with it.

Our front door was so bare and I love putting different wreaths up but wasn’t ready to put my olive branch wreath back up just yet.  I wanted something a little different than the green since we have had the pine wreath up for over a month.  I wanted something a little lighter and brighter and I found it at HomeGoods.

Creamy white Rose wreath from HomeGoods

I think this adds just the right amount of lightness that I was looking for.

I am sharing this pillow that my son bought me for Christmas.

Black and Gold Beaded Pillow by Nate Berkus at Target

I adore this little black and gold pillow by Nate Berkus at Target.  It is now on clearance for a little over $5.00 for in store purchase only.  It adds the right amount of sparkle to my Home Office.  Thanks BK!

The next Friday Favorite is another Christmas gift, this one is from my hubby.  It is another fabulous find from Target.

Threshold Desktop Chalk and Cork Easel at Target

Target Threshold Chalk and Cork Easel

I told my guys they could walk into Target and buy anything in there and I would love it!  This is the Threshold Desktop Chalk and Cork Easel.  My hubby also picked up the little gold Owl pushpins from Target too. I think it looks great on my desk.

The last thing I am sharing is our framed Christmas Card.

PearTree Christmas Cards

Every year once Christmas is over I frame our Family Christmas Card.  This year was the easiest card ever!  Usually I have to force the boys to take our annual photo and believe me it is not easy.  Once I get them all together it takes about another hour to get one decent photo where everyone is looking and all eyes are open. When it is all said and done someone is usually upset with someone  else… but not this year.  I snapped this photo of the boys while we were at a wedding and they were watching the beautiful bride walk down the aisle.

I have all of the framed Christmas cards since we starting doing this 12 years ago when the Gman was born.

I knew this was the photo I was going to use and everyone was happy.  I used Pear Tree Greetings this year for our cards and could not have been happier!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Friday Favorites.  Have a great weekend.

Until Next Time,

Finding the Goods

September 2, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

It has been so hard for me to get back into the swing of things with the start of school.  My oldest headed back to college which was hard for me.  Having my youngest running after his car as he drove away didn’t help matters either according to my oldest! My middle guy is at our local college which is great for all of us and the Gman started Middle School.

So it is not surprising that I would rather be here…
