It’s no secret that I have a bit of an obsession with thrift stores. When I say thrift stores, that is kind of a broad statement. I will hunt for great deals at thrift stores, consignment shops, Goodwill, yard/garage sales and even roadside rescues… in other words, someone else’s trash. So I thought it would be fun to start a new series on the blog where I share my favorite finds of the week. So this will be week 1 of
Thrift Shop Thursday
This week I have included my all time favorite which is a Goodwill find that I revamped into our new TV console. It was originally an oak buffet.
You can read all the details here.
One of my latest finds is yet again from Goodwill… like I said I am a bit obsessed with the place.
For $15 dollars I couldn’t pass it up because who doesn’t need more storage?
I really like all the drawers, the handles and the fact that it is on wheels. This was a big score in my eyes. For this photo, I moved it out into the kitchen but I am using it in the laundry room now as a catch all for all of Charlie’s odds and ends. If you are new here, Charlie is our puppy.
(I had to include him because he is adorable!!! And to think I wasn’t a dog person!)
My last two finds are from a local consignment/antique store. I love going to this place because it is just different. For one, it has things crammed in every imaginable spot and it seems like it goes on and on forever. I could spend hours in here searching away. I had less than an hour to spend last week because I had an appointment to get to so I could only zip through in a hurry but I still walked away with these two finds.
I am going to hang this in the dining room which you can see here. I am debating on painting it my usual favorite white or some form of white or cream. I like the gold but I just don’t want the gold in my dining room. I have enough gold in there already. I have been trying to get rid of the builder grade chandelier that we still have not switched out!!
My final Thrift Shop Thursday find is this lovely Ironstone Dish by J&G Meakin.
Just another small Ironstone dish to add to my white on white cabinet in the kitchen that you can see here.
This is why I love thrifting. You never know what you are going to find and the prices can be great… but mostly I love to imagine the story behind the piece and hope that our story will be carried on when these items pass on to someone else.
What do you all love most about Thrift Shopping?
