The Blizzard of 2016

January 27, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Today I wanted to share a few pictures from the big Blizzard of 2016.  It truly was amazing to see that much snow fall.   There is something so pretty and peaceful when the snow is falling and everything seems to stand still for just a little while.  I know some people don’t like being trapped in the house during big storms like this but I love it.  As long as my kitchen is stocked and we have electricity, I am good!  I think I like the fact that everyone (or almost everyone) is home and no one is rushing off to be somewhere.  I also like the unexpected break from school for the kids! I actually love when we get the phone call that school is canceled! It’s a nice little break from the routine of normal life!

The first three pictures I am sharing were taken during some of the heaviest snowfall.  You can see how reduced visibility was during the worst part of the storm.

After being in the house for a few days, we decided to venture out and do some sightseeing in the area. Actually, I just wanted to see some barns in the snow.  I am a bit obsessed with The Fixer Upper and now I love all things farm like.

Sharing Some Red Barn Love

I mean, really, wouldn’t it be great to look out your back door and see this?  There is something about a red barn in the white snow…love!

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into our snowed in little world!

I will be back tomorrow with another edition of Thrift Shop Thursday!

Until Next Time…

Friday Favorites: Adding Warmth with Pillows & Throws

January 15, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

We are midway through the first month of 2016 and I feel like I am just now getting into the swing of things.  Having said that, welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Favorites: Adding warmth with pillows & throws.

I mentioned before that I felt like our home was so stark once we packed away all of the Christmas lights and decoration. So I have been adding pillows and throws to inject some warmth into our spaces. There is nothing like getting cozy under a thick chunky blanket and watching a movie or reading a great book.

All throughout the Christmas Season, I was waiting on some cold temperatures and snow, instead I turned the air conditioner on Christmas Night, it was so warm.  Now we are getting the colder temperatures and I love it!

Friday Favorites Pillows and Throws

The first picture I am sharing is a handmade thick crocheted creamy white blanket that we received as a wedding gift almost 22 years ago.

thick chunky creamy white crocheted blanket

This is my napping blanket.  I will be wide awake but once I cover up with this thick afghan I am down for the count.  This is one of my most treasured gifts.

Have you seen those ultra thick & chunky throws in some of the shops on Etsy?  This is one of my favorites. I really, really like this.   Isn’t it gorgeous?

Chunky Knit blanket by CozenzaStore

You can find it here at CosenzaStore.  Maybe, just maybe I will treat myself. I could probably sleep forever under that thing!

Seriously though, don’t you just love that thick, chunky throw?  O.k. moving on with Friday Favorites: Adding warmth with pillows & throws.

Right before Christmas I picked up a few pillows at Target on clearance.

Long Hair Pillow from Target

This pillow is really soft and I like the texture of it.  I was feeling like everything was flat (if you know what I mean) so I added a few different textures to the sofa by adding more pillows and throws with different materials.

Thick Fuzzy Pillows and Throws for TJ Maxx

I added a thick and fuzzy creamy pillow with a fun pompom fringe to our leather chair.  This chair just looked too serious and formal sitting by the fireplace.  The pompom pillow lightens it up a bit.  I picked it up at T.J. Maxx.

I also picked up the grey one there as well.

Thick Fuzzy Pillows and Throws for TJ Maxx

The grey pillow is pilling a bit more than I like but it is any easy fix. I just need to get out my fabric shaver and run it over the pillow.  It only takes a few minutes to do.  I imagine that’s why it was on clearance. Did you notice it matches the throw on the leather chair?  I bought it awhile back at T.J. Maxx, you can see the full post here.

We have a bench in our kitchen that the kids use to put their shoes on in the morning.  I added a creamy throw and pillow to warm that space up a bit.

Adding Warmth with Pillows and Throws

I found the throw at HomeGoods and the pillow at Marshalls awhile back.  I like the added texture and warmth they bring to this little bench area.  I am sure the boys could not possibly care less that it looks warm and cozy.  They just need a place to quickly put their shoes on and rush out the door.

I hope you have a great weekend. Happy Friday!

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites

January 9, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Welcome to my first Friday Favorites of 2016.  Yes, my first Friday Favorites and I am late getting this out!  Most of my favorite picks come from Target and HomeGoods this week.

My Friday Favorites come from Target and Homegoods this Week.

Our home feels so stark since we took all of the Christmas decorations down.  I think everyone feels this way once the Christmas decorations are packed away and the twinkling lights are gone.  I would like to have twinkling lights up year round if I could get away with it.

Our front door was so bare and I love putting different wreaths up but wasn’t ready to put my olive branch wreath back up just yet.  I wanted something a little different than the green since we have had the pine wreath up for over a month.  I wanted something a little lighter and brighter and I found it at HomeGoods.

Creamy white Rose wreath from HomeGoods

I think this adds just the right amount of lightness that I was looking for.

I am sharing this pillow that my son bought me for Christmas.

Black and Gold Beaded Pillow by Nate Berkus at Target

I adore this little black and gold pillow by Nate Berkus at Target.  It is now on clearance for a little over $5.00 for in store purchase only.  It adds the right amount of sparkle to my Home Office.  Thanks BK!

The next Friday Favorite is another Christmas gift, this one is from my hubby.  It is another fabulous find from Target.

Threshold Desktop Chalk and Cork Easel at Target

Target Threshold Chalk and Cork Easel

I told my guys they could walk into Target and buy anything in there and I would love it!  This is the Threshold Desktop Chalk and Cork Easel.  My hubby also picked up the little gold Owl pushpins from Target too. I think it looks great on my desk.

The last thing I am sharing is our framed Christmas Card.

PearTree Christmas Cards

Every year once Christmas is over I frame our Family Christmas Card.  This year was the easiest card ever!  Usually I have to force the boys to take our annual photo and believe me it is not easy.  Once I get them all together it takes about another hour to get one decent photo where everyone is looking and all eyes are open. When it is all said and done someone is usually upset with someone  else… but not this year.  I snapped this photo of the boys while we were at a wedding and they were watching the beautiful bride walk down the aisle.

I have all of the framed Christmas cards since we starting doing this 12 years ago when the Gman was born.

I knew this was the photo I was going to use and everyone was happy.  I used Pear Tree Greetings this year for our cards and could not have been happier!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Friday Favorites.  Have a great weekend.

Until Next Time,

The Best of Stylish Revamp 2015

January 2, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Season.  I have been relaxing since we had our family Christmas dinner.   I have been catching up on my favorite blogs, watching some Fixer Upper repeats, movie watching and having game night. My husband always, always wins at scrabble.  We talked the Gman into playing with us.

I was originally going to take our Family Room tree down today but decided to wait until tomorrow.  The rest I will leave up until  The Epiphany which is the 12th day after Christmas.

Since I am not dismantling my Christmas Decor, I thought I would share  The Best of Stylish Revamp 2015.  Some of my favorite post did not make the list and some of the ones that did surprised me. However, this is the story that the numbers tell and according to my husband, the numbers don’t lie!  So here we go… At the top of the list is one of my favorites.

The IKEA Billy Book Case Hack

Ikea Billy Bookcases with a rolling library ladder

I absolutely love how this bookcase turned out.  I enjoy switching up the accessories on the shelves but this is the first styling! It is also my most pinned image as well.

2nd on the list is an older post.  It is my DIY DriftWood Christmas Tree.

DIY Driftwood Christmas Tree

This was another quick, easy and inexpensive project. You can see the full tutorial here.

3rd on the list is one of my favorite room revamps, My Home Office.

Creating a Home Office

The transformation of this room still amazes me every day.  Check out the before and after here.

4th on the list is another older post and I was surprised it was ranked so high on the list.  It is my DriftWood Whale.

DIY Driftwood Whale

This was another quick and easy DIY project and completely free! It looks adorable in our island home kitchen which you can see here.

The 5th most popular post on Stylish Revamp is another older post.  It is my very first Christmas Home Tour.

So many things have changed since this post and it is fun to look back at the differences.

Red Wooden Nutcracker

I am looking forward to all that 2016 has in store for me and my family. We here at Stylish Revamp wish you a happy and healthy 2016.

Christmas in the City Tour

December 23, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I am continuing my Christmas Home Tour with Christmas in the City. This is our  Christmas in the City Village by Department 56 that we set up each year under our tree in the Sunroom. It is such a magical scene. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

We set it up in our Sunroom which is one of the most used rooms in our home.  It is a cozy comfortable room that you can see here.

Department 56 Christmas in the CIty

This is something my husband does for me and the Gman.  It is a lot of work setting this scene up under the tree.  He also adds his Lionel Train around the village.  Again, for me it is creating memories for my boys in the story telling about our childhood Christmases.  The train was a gift my husband’s father gave him and his brothers for Christmas when they were children.

The other special Christmas tradition we do is decorate our feather trees with our personalized snowmen ornaments.

Personalized Family Ornaments on our Feather Tree

It is a special way to remember each person in our family from the loved ones that are no longer with us and the new member that we have recently welcomed to the family.

We are getting very excited to celebrate Christmas.  Today is the last day of school for my youngest.  Tonight we are going to finish our baking and finally tackle the GingerBread House.

Tomorrow I will be sharing a few pictures of our outside decorations.

Until Next Time,

Home Office Christmas Tour

December 22, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

It is a wet and rainy day here…if only the temperature would drop and turn the rain into snow! Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?

I am doing another room tour this afternoon.  This is my Home Office Christmas Tour.  It may be wet and dreary outside but inside it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Home Office Christmas Tour 2015

I  had previously shared my Christopher Radko Shiny Brite Village in Thrift Shop Thursday last week but I don’t think I mentioned that it is set up in my home office.

Christopher Radko Shiny Brite Village.

I was excited to decorate my IKEA Billy Bookcase  for Christmas.

IKEA Billy Bookcase Decked out for Christmas

Once I got started, I realized I didn’t want to add a lot to it.  I think I have enjoyed it so much since we finished it that I didn’t want to add a lot of clutter with Christmas decorations. I can’t believe that I  just said that… “too much clutter from Christmas decorations” from the person that decorates 6 trees each year!

Anyway, I did add a few Christmas accents such as my DIY Believe sign, gold Christmas Trees and a Gold Santa.  I also added a wreath that was originally in my kitchen and some silver glitter trees.  Harry Frost, our Elf on the Shelf, has made several appearances in the Home Office this year.

DIY Gold Glitter Believe Sign

We use the same stockings each year and hang them from the fireplace mantel that is in my office.

Hanging the stocking by the chimney with care

Even though Santa leaves our gifts under the tree in our family room, we have always hung the stockings in the room that is now my office. I started this tradition when we first moved to this home and the boys were little.  The stocking are the last thing we open.  When the boys were little, they would sometimes forget about them and remember them later on in the day and it was another added little surprise. Even though they are older, we still hang them in this room.

Stockings hanging by the chimney waiting for Santa to fill them.

This year when I pulled the decorations out of storage, I decided to donate some of the decorations I no longer use.  I donated three of my older trees.  I ended up buying this $32 tree at Michaels.  It is a very slim pre-lit tree.  I wanted to add some extra decorative berries or branches to fill it out a bit more but the Gman liked it as is …hmmm maybe next year!

My $32 Michaels Tree

Three more days…I wish we still had three more weeks.  I love the weeks leading up to Christmas but each year they come and go much too quickly.

Tomorrow, I will be sharing our Christmas in the City Tour.

Until Next Time,

Dining Room Christmas Tour 2015

December 22, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I cannot believe that Christmas will be here in 4 days.  Last year we went to Italy the day after Christmas and I kind of wish we were going back this year! It was forced time that the boys had to spend with us. Besides that, it was so darn gorgeous!  This year it will be more relaxed which I will definitely enjoy.  We will have family for dinner after Christmas, so today I decided to share my Dining Room Christmas Tour for 2015.

Dining Room Christmas Tour

I am keeping it simple in here this year as well.

Christmas Scented Pinecones scattered in a basket

I added Christmas Scented pine cones to a basket and finished it off with Santa and a wreath.  Easy but festive and it smells fabulous!

Christmas Scene on an Up Cycled Ladder

Vintage Skiing Santa

Vintage Metal Christmas Figurines

I have shared these pieces before but like I mentioned in an earlier post, I use the same decorations year after year.  Although, I do add a few new favorites here and there.  I found the vintage Christmas figurines at a consignment shop for next to nothing. I am always on the look out for more pieces like these.  This year I decided to add them to my up cycled teak ladder. So even though I am using the same pieces, I am mixing it up a bit.

The 12 days of Christmas Stamped Spoons

I have shared these Stamped Spoons before but I can’t help it…Love, Love, Love them!

Aren’t they perfect?

Christmas Table Setting

Here’s a glimpse of my Christmas table setting.

So even though I kept it relatively simple in the Dining room it still feels festive! I hope you are almost ready for Santa to make his long journey!  I wish we would get some snow but I think it is supposed to be quite warm here but I am still dreaming of a white Christmas!

White Kitchen Christmas Tour

December 17, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Today I am sharing my White Kitchen Christmas Tour instead of a Thrift Shop Thursday.  I am running behind on my tours and wanted to get them in before Santa arrives.  A quick shout out to my Dad…Get better soon Dad, we love you tons and miss you and mom!

Now on with the Kitchen Tour…

White Kitchen dressed for Christmas with pops of red

If I haven’t mentioned it before I will do so now, I love decorating for Christmas.  I enjoy looking at all the old ornaments and decorations with all the special memories they hold and the stories they tell.  I especially love the decorations that my boys made in preschool and Elementary School.  I use these to decorate my kitchen tree.  They are so sweet. I can’t believe I am going to say this but I miss those days!

Since I love tradition, I use the same decorations year after year and add a little something new as well.

Kitchen Christmas Tree 2015

Check out the Angel on the top of the tree.  My middle son made that in preschool.  He had the most artistic teacher. It still amazes me that he is a freshman in college!  In the background, you can see my DIY Christmas Countdown sign. Since my husband wakes before the rest of the household, he is the one that changes the days.  It is such a simple thing but it is something we all enjoy. Even though it is making me a little antsy to realize Christmas is  only 8 days away.

Christmas Kitchen Santa

My kitchen Santa stands next to the glass Christmas Tree candy jar that belonged to my dad’s mom. To me it’s all about the memories and I hope this is something my boys will carry with them when they start their own family one day.

Feather tree with Vintage Reindeer

My mom bought me this feather tree a long time ago.  It’s one of those things that hold special memories for me. I added the vintage reindeer that I found at a consignment shop.  Just another thing that reminds me of Christmas from my childhood.

Vintage Tonka Truck

I start decorating with this vintage truck last year.  This was my husband’s childhood toy and I am sure it holds special memories for him.

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

December 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I am really enjoying the Holiday Season this year.  My home is all decked out, my gifts are bought and my baking has begun! I love everything about the Christmas Season.

For this year’s Christmas Home Tour, I thought I would divide it into several different posts and share a room or two at a time.

So here we go, Welcome to the Family Room Christmas Tour 2015!

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

The Family Room is where we have our main tree.   When my oldest was born, my husband was so excited to have a son,  he went out and bought a 13 foot live tree.  It was huge and all I kept thinking was, “How will I ever decorate this thing?”  I remember my husband saying, “Just this once we can have a large tree.” Well, that was 20 years ago, and some things never change.  It has become a tradition.  We always have a large live tree in the family room.  This is where we leave our cookies and milk for Santa and he leaves our gifts under this tree.

fireplace Christmas Mantel in Family room 2015

We leave cookies and milk for Santa on the hearth of the fireplace.

Family Room Christmas Tree

It took us almost 2 hours to get this tree in the tree stand properly. That is my least favorite part about having a live tree.  Some people complain about the needles dropping and the mess it can make.  None of that bothers me.  I love the smell of a Christmas tree in the home and it is worth that struggle of getting it into the stand when it’s all decorated!

Christmas 2015 Family Room

I usually keep it pretty simple in here.  The Tree is the centerpiece in this room.  I dress the mantel, the tables and I toss a few Christmas pillows on the sofas and chairs and that’s about it for this room!

Vintage Runner Sled

I shared my Christmas card holder here on Thrift Shop Thursday. The only other thing I did to the sofa table was add some red berries rings to my candlesticks to give them a festive look.

Christmas Cheer in the FamilyRoom

View into the kitchen from Familyroom

This is the view into the kitchen from the Family Room.  I will be sharing my Christmas Kitchen tomorrow and thought I would give you a little sneak peek.  I hope you enjoyed the Family Room Christmas Tour…

I am off to wrap some presents before the Gman gets home from school!

Hope you have a great week.

Until Next Time,
