Friday Favorites: Christmas Edition Part 2

December 11, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is here.  The Gman and I are going to go on our annual Christmas outing.  We like to go to the local nursery and see the trains and decorations.  Then it’s off to do some of his Christmas shopping and dinner. I love to see how much thought he puts into each and every gift. My middle guy has his last final today and my oldest is home for a week before traveling back to school to take one last final. It should be a great weekend.

Now it is time to share some of my picks for Friday Favorites.  This is part 2 of my Christmas Edition.

Sharing some of my favorite Christmas finds.

Over the past couple of years, I have been filling some of my flower pots with fresh clipping to add some Christmas Cheer outside.  These will last me until late February.  This year I found some Christmas Floral Picks with large plastic ornaments. I found mine at our local Grocery Store but I have seem them at Home Depot too.  I had originally seen this idea on a Sarah Richardson’s Christmas Special several years ago.  (I am still waiting for some new Christmas shows on HGTV.)  This is my take on the outdoor planters.

Outdoor Trimmings for Christmas

Outdoor Planters prepped fro Christmas.

I love a home all decked out for the Holidays!

Earlier this week, I went to Target.  I have not been there for a while and now I remember why. I absolutely love every single thing in there!  I was trapped for hours in just one section.  The pillows, the lamps, the Christmas Decor…I had to force myself to walk away.  Well, I did pick up  one little thing…

Target Holiday salt and pepper shakers

Are these not the cutest salt and pepper shakers you have ever seen?  I am itching to go back to Target…just to look!

Every year for as long as I can remember, my youngest has asked for Reindeer for the outside.  I have always said no because, 1.)We have so many decoration and 2.) We have no space to store anything else Christmas related.

He would stare longingly at our neighbor’s Reindeer every day and mention how nice they looked.

Well, this is what we have now!

Pre-lit Reindeer from Michaels

This was on sale at Michaels.  There are so many things I like about this Reindeer.   It  folds down into one small section. It all fits inside itself.  I like the glittery gold aspect of it and I like that the head moves when it is lit up.

So Gman, sorry I made you wait almost 10 years to finally get your reindeer! XOXO

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Until Next Time,

Thrift Shop Thursday #23: Christmas Finds

December 10, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Welcome to this weeks edition of Thrift Shop Thursday #23.  We are sharing some of our Christmas Finds from local consignment shops and our favorite store… Goodwill!

Thrift Shop Thursday #23 sharing some of our Christmas Finds

The first item up this week is a paper village set.  I picked it up because it reminded me of the village my mom always put under our Christmas tree. I think that was one of her favorite things to do, set up her village.  I would lay under that tree and stare at that village and dream for hours, it was just so pretty and seemed like the perfect town.  It was such a lovely scene.  I come from a family of seven and I am the only girl. It would not take long for one of the boys (who will not be named but we all know who he is) to drive a remote control car through the villages and rapidly try to restore it back to its original state before mom walked back into the room! Boys!  Now I have three and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Christopher Radko presents Shiny Brite Village

When I saw this paper village set by Christopher Radko it was so reminiscent of the ones from my childhood, I knew I had to have it.

Christopher Radko Shiny Brite Villages

I picked the entire set up for a few dollars at a consignment shop.  They are not vintage pieces but they do look similar to the ones my mom has under her tree.

The next piece I am sharing is one that I picked up at Goodwill for $5.  It’s one of those pieces that my husband just looks at and shakes his head.  Well, it was only $5 and I had a plan for it.

Metal Christmas Tree from Goodwill

My original plan for this baby was to hang all of my vintage ornaments on it.  That didn’t work.  The metal branches are too close together to hang the ornaments on.  I still like it and think it looks fabulous as is…it is still not a favorite for my hubby.  I am thinking Santa can put a few small presents under it and we are good to go!

My last find for today is another Christmas Tree. This one is a Christmas Tree card holder. I picked it up from Goodwill last summer.  We love displaying the Christmas cards we receive each year. We used to tape them on the door in the kitchen, then I made a ribbon to attach them to one year but this tree is my favorite for displaying the cards.

Christmas Tree card display

It is perfect.  Everyone can see the cards and it is easy to pull the cards out and read them at any time.

That wraps up this weeks Thrift Shop Thursday #23: Christmas Finds. I hope you are enjoying this Holiday Season as much as I am.

Until Next Time,

DIY Gold Glitter Believe Sign

December 8, 2015 By stylishrevamp 1 Comment

Today I decided to skip the gym and head out to do some Christmas shopping.  That was a workout within itself!  It is so nice to come home to a decorated home.  I really like our home but I especially like it at Christmas time.  I would like to have twinkling lights up all year round.

I mentioned last week that I was going to share my DIY Gold Glitter Believe Sign. This was another quick, easy and inexpensive project.  The longest part was waiting for the paint to dry.

DIY Gold Glitter Believe Sign

Supplies Needed:

Scrap wood

Vinyl Lettering  (I made mine with my Cricut Cutter)

White Paint

Gold Glitter Paint

I had some scrap wood in the garage and the paint was also something I had on hand.  The first thing you need to do is put your base coat of paint on your piece of wood.  I chose white as my base color.  I let that dry overnight.

I used my Cricut Cutter to make the vinyl letters. (Mine was a gift from Santa) If you do not have a craft cutter you can use vinyl stickers from Michaels Craft Store.  I used stickers on my Christmas Countdown Sign and My Family Birthday Calendar and they worked perfectly.

So once your base coat is dry, place you lettering on the sign. I then sprayed several light coats of the gold glitter paint over the entire sign.  I let the gold paint dry but not completely.  I then pulled the vinyl lettering off to reveal the white lettering underneath.

DIY Gold Glitter DIY Sign

I added my Believe Sign to my Ikea Billy Bookcase in my office for a little Christmas bling.

Next week I am planning on sharing my Christmas Home Tour but for now, I am off to hide some presents before the Gman gets home from school.

Gift Wrapping Ideas for Christmas

December 7, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Now that the majority of my Christmas decorating is complete, I have time to start wrapping some of my gifts. Each year, I think I am going to wrap the same day that I buy a gift.   This NEVER HAPPENS… ever!  Instead, what I do is hide it in the closet and actually forget what I have bought and where I have hidden it.  Then I have a minor panic attack when I can’t find something.  I have always kept a journal with all the gifts I have bought with the receipts because I usually Christmas shop all year round.  I like picking up things when we travel if I see something unique.

I  actually like to wrap gifts, especially when I am not feeling stressed for time.  I like coming up with ideas and different ways to make my wrapped packages special.

Christmas Wrapping Ideas

This year I am using items that I have found at consignment shops, The Dollar General Store, PotteryBarn, and T.J. Maxx.

Vintage Pins and Brooches from a consignment shop.

I was at a consignment/antique shop a few years ago when I spotted these vintage pins and brooches.  They were in a baskets dumped in a ziploc baggie.  The basket had a mix of things like jewelry, buttons, and other odds and ends.  I found this bag full of Christmas pins and I thought they were so cute.  My mom used to buy me Christmas pins when I was little to wear on my coat. Maybe that’s why I like them so much.  Instead of wearing them though, I decided to incorporate them into my gift wrapping.

Vintage Holiday PinBrooch

Last year once the Holiday was over, I was shopping in PotteryBarn and spotted these glittery initials on clearance.  I thought they would look nice on a package rather than using a gift tag. This year, I found some glittery letters at Jo-Anne Fabric as well.

Glittery letters from PotteryBarn used as gift tags.

The Dollar Store and the Dollar General Store both have a lot of things to use for making your gift wrapping unique and special. I found this reindeer at The Dollar General Store.  It came in packs of two.

Glittery Reindeer from Dollar General Store.

They have both gold and red reindeer.  I also like to pick up all my Holiday tissue paper, tape, boxes and gift card boxes at the Dollar Store.

The last idea I am sharing is this adorable gift bag from TJ Maxx.

Giant Gift bag from TJ Maxx

This gift bag is awesome.  It’s made of thick red canvas with a soft white faux fur trim and white lettering.  It is thick and sturdy not to mention so darn cute! I am filling this up then shipping it out soon!

I hope you have enjoyed my Gift Wrapping Ideas for Christmas!  Have a good week!

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites: Christmas Edition

December 4, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I feel like I have been decorating for weeks when in fact it has only been a few days.  This weekend we will go to a local farm and pick out our main Christmas tree (one of my favorite things to do). This is the tree that Santa will leaves his gifts under on Christmas Eve.

Since we are getting into the Christmas Spirit, I thought this weeks Friday Favorites would be a Christmas Edition.

Rounding up my Favorite Christmas Items

I like to have a Christmas Tree in our sitting room in the Master Bedroom.  I have been using the same one that my husband bought when we were dating.  It was definitely time to replace it.  I found the perfectly flocked tree at Walmart. It is so pretty and so easy to assemble.

Flocked Christmas Tree from WalMart

The tree is 7.5 feet tall, pre-lit, and flocked beautifully. For $149 I could not ask for anything better.

A few years back at Christmas, the girls bought me a set of Vintage Stamped Spoons.

The 12 Days of Christmas

I had never seen anything like this at the time.  I was obsessed with these spoons.  So much so, that I bought my own metal stamping kit only to realize it is WAY more difficult than it looks.  These spoons are so gorgeous and I thought The 12 Days of Christmas was such a clever idea. I look forward to pulling these out each year!  The owner of the shop is Kerrie L. Balma and you can check out her work on the WoodenHive. You will not be disappointed!

Lastly, I am sharing some pillow covers from H&M.  I didn’t even know that H&M carried items for the home. I found another new favorite shopping spot for home decor at fabulous prices.

H&M Pillow Covers for Christmas

This pillow cover was only $5.99.  I also picked up two metallic and cream pillow covers for $9.99.  Again, great prices and they are adorable.

H&M metallic and cream pillow covers

This pillow was a bit more difficult to photograph because of the metallic.  They really are pretty.  In the back ground, you can see my gold and glitter DIY Believe sign.  I will be sharing the details on that next week.

I hope you all enjoyed this weeks Friday Favorites Christmas Edition.

On a side note, Happy Birthday to my Hubby!

Have a great weekend!

Until Next Time,

Thrift Shop Thursday #22

December 3, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Welcome to Thrift Shop Thursday #22.  This week I am sharing some of my favorite Christmas finds. I am always on the lookout for Christmas items even when we travel.

Thrift Shop Thursday #22

First up this week, I am sharing my red and green espresso mugs.  I found these at a little shop for 25 cents!  #cute

Holiday Espresso Mugs

I think they are adorable.  I like to use them with my DIY Christmas Countdown Sign.  They are the perfect size to hold my chalk for the changing days on my sign.

dscn7195

Once Christmas if over, I could use them for espresso but no… someone packed up my espresso machine over Thanksgiving Break and took it back with him to college! XOXO to him!

The next two finds I am sharing with you is something I am always on the look out for when I am thrift shopping.  I really like Vintage Christmas Light Bulbs.  I especially like the milk glass bulbs. They have so much detail.

VIntage Light Bulbs tucked into a Vintage bowl Could you imagine a string of these vintage light bulbs on your tree?  I think it would be so pretty rather than the mini white twinkling lights we use today. I am a Nervous Nelly when it comes to fire safety, so I just put them in vintage bowls (also picked up at a thrift shop) and scatter them around the house.

Vintage Milk Glass

The large oval milk glass bulbs are my favorite.  These were the very first bulbs I  ever bought and I haven’t seem any others like them either.  The search continues…

Well, that’s it for this week of Thrift Shop Thursday #22.  I will share more of my Vintage Holiday Finds next week.

I think I might brave this cold weather and attempt to fix the outside lights!

Until Next Time,

DIY Mini Christmas Wreath

December 2, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

It has been a busy, crazy, whirlwind few weeks.  My oldest was home from college.  My other two boys were on break as well.  We traveled to Philadelphia for Thanksgiving.  I ate too much of everything.  Returned home and my dearest friend traveled until 1:00 a.m. to get here.  Then we continued to stay up for the next three nights talk, talk, talking.  I had to laugh because my hubby asked, what do you do? How can you talk that much? What are you talking about? There was not a moment of silence,  I can tell you that!  There is not a problem in the world that a little girl time cannot conquer.  So dear friend…just know that all of us here are thinking of you and we love you!!!

So since I have been so busy and I have added extra gym time on to my schedule to undo the damage of Thanksgiving and the damage I know is heading my way with the Holiday baking coming up, my blogging has fallen behind.  My manager has been lecturing me so I thought I would share a quick easy DIY Mini Christmas Wreath Project before said manager gets off the afternoon school bus and starts in on me again about productivity!

DIY Mini Wreath in Vintage Frame

I love projects that only take a few minutes but add something special to your decor.  Last night I picked up a mini grape-vine wreath and one large greenery pick from Michaels. I snipped off pieces of the greenery and inserted them into the wreath.  I added a bit of hot glue to help them adhere.  I added a sprig of red berries for added Christmas cheer.  I attached the wreath with a red and white string to my vintage white frame that I shared here.  Easy Peasy! I am hoping to have all of my Christmas decorating finished by this weekend.  So far I have four trees up, you can see our kitchen Christmas tree reflection in the mirror.  I will be sharing more of our Christmas Decor next week if all goes as planned.

This year my husband who is normally the one to do the outside light decided to hand it over to the boys.  Let’s just say, I will probably not be sharing the outside tour this year.  When I was talk, talk, talking to my friend, I looked out the window as my oldest was hurling the Christmas Lights over the tree like a football. NOT PRETTY!  I was going to redo the lights myself but it has been raining nonstop! Hopefully, it will dry up soon because those lights are driving me crazy.  I don’t know how he wired them but they blew a fuse last night so to be on the safe side I am leaving them unplugged.

Vintage Frame with Mini Wreath copy

I am off to finish up my Christmas decorating.  Tomorrow I am sharing some of my Vintage Christmas Decoration on Thrift Shop Thursday. Hope you are have a great day!

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites #2

November 20, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Welcome to Friday Favorites #2.  I cannot believe that my oldest will be turning 20 tomorrow and that Thanksgiving is next week! I am really getting excited for the start of the Holiday season.  I usually start decorating for Christmas right after Thanksgiving although, I have been known to start the week of Thanksgiving when the boys are off of school. I guess we will just have to see how the week progresses! When we had some warmer weather this past week, I did see a few people doing the outside lights.  Although, I kind of like helping my hubby outside when it’s freezing cold.  It feels more like the Holiday Season to me.

O.K. on to Friday Favorites…

Friday Favorites from StylishRevamp

First up, I have the drying rack from World Market.

Decorating with WorldMarket Mug Stand

I love this simple little thing!  I have looked everywhere for one like this. I found a large one at the Flea Market that I shared here but it was too large and too expensive!  Then I spotted one on  Migonis Home, a blog I follow.  She had one sitting on her counter, it was exactly what I had been looking for. Within two seconds of her telling me where she found it, I was online ordering it from World Market.  For $14.99 you can’t go wrong!   It’s also an easy way to decorate the kitchen for the Holidays…just add  some Christmas mugs and it looks festive.  This is definitely a Friday Favorite!

Beginning in late October or early November,  I like to start reading Christmas Stories.  It is something that my mom has always done and once I was old enough she started sharing her books with me.  Every year I look for the new Christmas books that have been released but I still reread some of my favorites every year like Blue Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews.

Favorite Holiday Read

This is such a good Holiday read.  Mom and I used to trade books back and forth but I liked this one so much I bought one for both of us to keep on hand and I also have it on an ebook as well.

Last up this week on Friday Favorites is my Scentsy Plug In.  A few years ago, I was visiting a friend of mine and her home smelled so good.  She told me it was her Scentsy Plug In.

Adding Holiday Fragrance with Scentsy

It’s a wax warmer and a night-light.  Scentsy has other wax warmers but my Favorite is the plug-in. They also have a lot of fragrant wax melts to choose from as well. It’s a quick an easy way to add Holiday Fragrance to your Home.

Well, that’s it for this weeks Friday Favorites!  I hope you enjoyed.  If anyone has a Favorite Christmas Read, please let me know!  I am always looking for new  Christmas books to add to my collection.

Until Next Time,

My Flea Market Picks

November 17, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I told you about my Flea Market trip.  Today, I am going to share with you my Flea Market Picks.   Even though I was overwhelmed with the sheer volume of items on display, I managed to walk away with a few little favorite picks!

My Flea Market Picks

I found several different bottle brush trees but this little guy was my favorite.

Vintage Bottle Brush Tree

I like the red base, it just looks  “Christmassy” to me.  I am happy to add to my collection!

Another Christmas piece I found is this vintage light.

Vintage Christmas Star Light

I am always on the lookout for vintage Christmas Bulbs.  They are all so different from what we use to decorate with today.  Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some of my favorite vintage Christmas Bulbs that I have found at thrift shops over the years.

My last Flea Market Pick that I am sharing is these vintage picks.

Vintage Picks with Llamas

I have never seen anything like these before.  I think the llama detail is adorable.

Vintage Picks

Flea Markets and Thrift Shops have all sorts of unique items that you cannot find in a department stores.  That is just one of the many reasons I am so into Thrift Shopping.  I really like the stories behind the pieces I collect and displaying them throughout the house adds a unique flair and instant character.

I hope you enjoyed My Flea Market Picks!

What items do you like to collect?

Until Next Time,

Friday Favorites #1

November 13, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I have decided to add a new series to the blog.  Well, actually the Gman said I needed to add something different to the blog.  As my other two boys will tell you “What Gman wants Gman gets”.

Friday Favorites

The new series,  Friday Favorites will include some of my favorite things which can range from rooms to food, or anything I find that I really like!

One thing that I would like to add as a side note is please pin all images from the original source.

First up, I saw this room on Instagram by @KailyThork

Living Room Nook by @KailyThork

I love everything about this cozy little nook from the old door to the little grey side table!  Wouldn’t it be lovely to sit down in the comfy chair with a good book and a cup of coffee?  Love it!!

You can see more by Kaily on her blog at Bluesagedesigns.com

Another Favorite I would like to share this Friday is the new online magazine Everything Home Magazine. This digital magazine is by a group of talented bloggers and Instagramers.  They share ideas from home decor, DIY, recipes, photography and much more.

Everything Home Magazine

It is free and fabulous, check it out!

Lastly, I am sharing something I found for our kitchen.   Last year at this time, we did a major kitchen revamp.  One of my favorite details we added to the cabinets was this special piece of hardware…

Liberty Hardware Soft-Close Damper

I did not even know these things existed!  I went to Home Depot looking for rubber pads or stops so that my newly paints cabinets doors were not banging every time they shut.  One of the employees showed me this handy piece of hardware.  They have been the best things ever!  Super easy to install and now my cabinets have soft-close doors.

Soft -Close Door Hardware

I am not sure if these were around when I boys were younger but I can only imagine how much quieter things would have been!

So there you have it, My Friday Favorites.

Until Next Time,
