It is a wet and rainy day here…if only the temperature would drop and turn the rain into snow! Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?
I am doing another room tour this afternoon. This is my Home Office Christmas Tour. It may be wet and dreary outside but inside it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
I had previously shared my Christopher Radko Shiny Brite Village in Thrift Shop Thursday last week but I don’t think I mentioned that it is set up in my home office.
I was excited to decorate my IKEA Billy Bookcase for Christmas.
Once I got started, I realized I didn’t want to add a lot to it. I think I have enjoyed it so much since we finished it that I didn’t want to add a lot of clutter with Christmas decorations. I can’t believe that I just said that… “too much clutter from Christmas decorations” from the person that decorates 6 trees each year!
Anyway, I did add a few Christmas accents such as my DIY Believe sign, gold Christmas Trees and a Gold Santa. I also added a wreath that was originally in my kitchen and some silver glitter trees. Harry Frost, our Elf on the Shelf, has made several appearances in the Home Office this year.
We use the same stockings each year and hang them from the fireplace mantel that is in my office.
Even though Santa leaves our gifts under the tree in our family room, we have always hung the stockings in the room that is now my office. I started this tradition when we first moved to this home and the boys were little. The stocking are the last thing we open. When the boys were little, they would sometimes forget about them and remember them later on in the day and it was another added little surprise. Even though they are older, we still hang them in this room.
This year when I pulled the decorations out of storage, I decided to donate some of the decorations I no longer use. I donated three of my older trees. I ended up buying this $32 tree at Michaels. It is a very slim pre-lit tree. I wanted to add some extra decorative berries or branches to fill it out a bit more but the Gman liked it as is …hmmm maybe next year!
Three more days…I wish we still had three more weeks. I love the weeks leading up to Christmas but each year they come and go much too quickly.
Tomorrow, I will be sharing our Christmas in the City Tour.
Until Next Time,
