White Kitchen Christmas Tour

December 17, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Today I am sharing my White Kitchen Christmas Tour instead of a Thrift Shop Thursday.  I am running behind on my tours and wanted to get them in before Santa arrives.  A quick shout out to my Dad…Get better soon Dad, we love you tons and miss you and mom!

Now on with the Kitchen Tour…

White Kitchen dressed for Christmas with pops of red

If I haven’t mentioned it before I will do so now, I love decorating for Christmas.  I enjoy looking at all the old ornaments and decorations with all the special memories they hold and the stories they tell.  I especially love the decorations that my boys made in preschool and Elementary School.  I use these to decorate my kitchen tree.  They are so sweet. I can’t believe I am going to say this but I miss those days!

Since I love tradition, I use the same decorations year after year and add a little something new as well.

Kitchen Christmas Tree 2015

Check out the Angel on the top of the tree.  My middle son made that in preschool.  He had the most artistic teacher. It still amazes me that he is a freshman in college!  In the background, you can see my DIY Christmas Countdown sign. Since my husband wakes before the rest of the household, he is the one that changes the days.  It is such a simple thing but it is something we all enjoy. Even though it is making me a little antsy to realize Christmas is  only 8 days away.

Christmas Kitchen Santa

My kitchen Santa stands next to the glass Christmas Tree candy jar that belonged to my dad’s mom. To me it’s all about the memories and I hope this is something my boys will carry with them when they start their own family one day.

Feather tree with Vintage Reindeer

My mom bought me this feather tree a long time ago.  It’s one of those things that hold special memories for me. I added the vintage reindeer that I found at a consignment shop.  Just another thing that reminds me of Christmas from my childhood.

Vintage Tonka Truck

I start decorating with this vintage truck last year.  This was my husband’s childhood toy and I am sure it holds special memories for him.

This is a view into our family room (and a reminder that I still have not switched out my chandelier).

(The picture above is from last year but I had to share because I love this image of our Elf, Harry Frost)

Dreaming of a White Kitchen...Christmas 2015.

Our Elf has reappeared everywhere but under the vent hood this year but there is still time!  Well, that is our little tour of the kitchen, tomorrow I will share my home office and the dining room.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the Christmas Kitchen Tour.

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

December 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I am really enjoying the Holiday Season this year.  My home is all decked out, my gifts are bought and my baking has begun! I love everything about the Christmas Season.

For this year’s Christmas Home Tour, I thought I would divide it into several different posts and share a room or two at a time.

So here we go, Welcome to the Family Room Christmas Tour 2015!

Family Room Christmas Tour 2015

The Family Room is where we have our main tree.   When my oldest was born, my husband was so excited to have a son,  he went out and bought a 13 foot live tree.  It was huge and all I kept thinking was, “How will I ever decorate this thing?”  I remember my husband saying, “Just this once we can have a large tree.” Well, that was 20 years ago, and some things never change.  It has become a tradition.  We always have a large live tree in the family room.  This is where we leave our cookies and milk for Santa and he leaves our gifts under this tree.

We leave cookies and milk for Santa on the hearth of the fireplace.

Family Room Christmas Tree

It took us almost 2 hours to get this tree in the tree stand properly. That is my least favorite part about having a live tree.  Some people complain about the needles dropping and the mess it can make.  None of that bothers me.  I love the smell of a Christmas tree in the home and it is worth that struggle of getting it into the stand when it’s all decorated!

Christmas 2015 Family Room

I usually keep it pretty simple in here.  The Tree is the centerpiece in this room.  I dress the mantel, the tables and I toss a few Christmas pillows on the sofas and chairs and that’s about it for this room!

Family Room all dressed for Christmas

I shared my Christmas card holder here on Thrift Shop Thursday. The only other thing I did to the sofa table was add some red berries rings to my candlesticks to give them a festive look.

Christmas Cheer in the FamilyRoom

This is the view into the kitchen from the Family Room.  I will be sharing my Christmas Kitchen tomorrow and thought I would give you a little sneak peek.  I hope you enjoyed the Family Room Christmas Tour…

I am off to wrap some presents before the Gman gets home from school!

Hope you have a great week.

Until Next Time,

Fall Home Tour

October 27, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

I am finally getting around to my Fall Home Tour with a bit of Halloween fun mixed in as well.  I pulled out all of my Fall and Halloween decorations several weeks ago.  Then I went through all the boxes only to realize I am ready to get rid of the majority of my decorations.  Last year I didn’t decorate inside because we were in the middle of renovating the entire main floor so it has been awhile since I have gone through everything. It’s funny how your taste changes over time.  I still enjoy a few of my pieces and the memories they hold but the rest of the decorations are getting packed up for Goodwill.

Fall Home Tour in the Kitchen

This year I am adding a few touches throughout the house.  In the kitchen, I have placed a few pumpkins around and have even used a cookbook for decorating.

Decorating with Cookbooks

I am keeping it super simple this year.  Something the Gman is not all that happy about.  He keeps asking if I am going to do more.

Decorative light up pumpkins

Decorating with Mini Pumpkins on a decorative ladder

As for the outside, I like to add some large pumpkins, mums and a fall wreath to our door.

Outside Fall Decor

I also like to decorate the outdoor fireplace a bit too.  I made this mini wreath with vines found in our back yard.  Then I wrapped the vines with faux leaves.

pumpkins and planters of mums on the front porch

This is how I like to decorate for Fall and Halloween…

BUT this is how I decorate for the Gman (the other three males in this household could not possibly care any less what I do when it comes to decorating).

Halloween Graveyard Stroll

This is how the Gman likes our house to look…

Halloween Fright Night

and this is how I like it to look.

Outside Fall Decor

So it was a compromise.

Happy Halloween!

Until Next Time,

Revamping a Vintage Wash Stand

August 16, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I recently completed my home office which you can see here.  I have been using the office for a few months now and I really love this space.  I find myself adding small little touches here and there, and most recently I added a new/old piece for a spot behind my desk.  I think the revamped wash stand fits into my office perfectly.

Finishing Touches on a Neutral Dining Room

May 30, 2015 By stylishrevamp 1 Comment

I am just about done with the finishing touches on our Neutral Dining Room. Although, is any room ever really finished?  I still haven’t switched out the chandelier and I may add some more wall decor but for now, I am calling it finished (almost)!

Decorating In Neutrals Collage

I have shared bits and pieces of this room in the past but I was photographing around the fact that I still had the large red Persian rug under the table. I have looked everywhere for an area rug that would work in here but I needed a 10′ x 14′ and they are not cheap.  I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a rug because then I would feel obligated to keep it for a long time! I was also looking for something neutral.  I really like the jute rugs I found at Pier 1 but their largest was a 9′ x 12′ .My chairs would have been hanging off the edge of the carpet!  I am thinking about using the just rug from Pier 1 in the sunroom.

Home Tour Island Living

April 21, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Today, I am going to share with you exactly why I fell in love with our Island Home and it wasn’t the lovely floral wallpaper that covered just about every inch of that house! Nor was it the lace curtains!

 Nope, it was the view.

Viewing the Island Home from the Water

I knew this was the house for us when I could look right past the ugly!  When the sun was setting, it was just magical. I have never seen a sunset more beautiful.

Even though I despised the interior, I fell in love with that house.  The house had great bones but it was just ugly, there is no other way to put it…

…oh but the views from just about every room in the house…amazing!

Gorgeous Views of the Bay

It never gets old!  I feel like the minute we cross that bridge everything just gets better. Life just gets easier.

Happy Hour at Sunset

That’s what I am talking about… cocktail hour on the porch watching the sunset!

(Hi Aunt Jen, We Miss You!)

I think this house is best when we have family and friends there for the weekend!

Family time on the Island

Front Porch on the Water

I love the large wrap around porch.  I love sitting in the rocking chairs watching the boats glide past,  watching the sunset or just reading a good book.  There is usually a nice breeze coming in off the bay to keep it cool.

Island Home front view

To the left of the wrap around porch, is another one of my favorite spots.  It’s a screened in porch with double fans.  This is where we like to eat dinner. We have a table out there right now that I haven’t refinished because I keep thinking I need a larger one. I don’t know, maybe I will give it another season and then decide!

Drawbridge to the Island

This is the drawbridge you must cross to get on the Island.  It is the busiest drawbridge in the United States.

Turtle sculpture

Meet our little turtle that hangs out on the riprap. This little lovely was left behind by the former owners because she was too heavy to move. I find her charming.

So that just about sums up why I love our Island Home.  She is not perfect but she is perfect for us!

Kitchen Tour on the Island

April 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp 4 Comments

Today I am sharing an updated tour of our kitchen in the Island Home.  I had previously shared the kitchen here.  Even though it was dark and stormy when we were there last, I just love how it feels so comfortable and cozy on our little point on the Island.

White Kitchen Tour in the Island Home

The bright white kitchen with the farmhouse table is the center of our home. It opens up to the dining area and the family room.

Home Tour on the Island- Master Bedroom

April 7, 2015 By stylishrevamp 4 Comments

Tonight I am sharing our Master Bedroom on the Island Home.  This part of the home, including the attic lounge area, is not original to the house. I believe these rooms were added about 14 years ago. When the previous owners added the extra space, it created two Master Bedroom areas.
