Previously, I showed you our Board and Batten Headboard for the Island Home that you can see here. Yesterday, my middle son and I made the trek to the Island home to make another headboard. We wanted to do something similar but with fewer steps. It was such a spur of the moment kind of trip and I wasn’t even sure if I was in the mood to start the project. It was pouring down rain, the wind was blowing and it was so foggy.
Our first stop was Home Depot. We decided to frame out the headboard and skip the middle slats like we did in the Board and Batten Headboard. Therefore, we only needed four pieces of wood.
Supplies:
two 1×4’s cut to 5 feet
one 1×4 cut to 76 inches
one 1×2 cut to 76 inches
nail gun
painters tape
wood filler
sanding block
valspar white paint
First, we nailed each five foot 1 x 4 in place. Then we added the 76 inch 1 x4 on top. Easy!!
We added the 1 x 2 on the top to form a ledge. Once we finished nailing the pieces into place, we used wood filler to patch the holes. After it dried, we sanded the filler with the sanding blocks for a smooth finish. We used the Valspar paint that we had left over from a previous project.
This is what the room looked like before we made the headboard. It was such an easy project and it made such an impact on the room
Even though I was not in the mood to go to the Island, I am so glad that we did. I just love, love, love it there… even in the rain, wind and fog!!
Thanks B.K.
