I shared with you on Thrift Shop Thursday #12 my teak ladder. I wanted to show you some shots of the teak ladder before I cleaned it, sanded and finished it with teak oil.
I like it in it’s weather state but thought I should clean it up before I revamp it into a blanket rack.
It really was an easy process to bring the teak back to a smooth finish. The first step for me was to clean it very well and let it dry for 24 to 48 hours. Once I felt it was completely dry I sanded it with my palm sander. Then I did a little hand sanding to the tight spots I couldn’t get to with the electric sander. My hubby thought I could have done a bit more sanding but I was done! After sanding, I wiped the ladder down really well to remove all the dust. Then I applied teak oil with a cloth and spilled some on the deck which was not a good thing 🙁
Like I mentioned before, I am going to try to attach the ladder to the wall using some type of rod and possibly drapery hardware. Until then, it is just propped up against the wall.
Once I get this in it’s final resting place which might be the Island Home I will do an updated photo.
Until Next Time,
