My Love Affair with Gold and White Continues

May 20, 2016 By stylishrevamp 1 Comment

Yes, it is that time again…Thrift Shop Thursday #28, my love affair with Gold and White continues.

My Love affair continues with Gold and White

I picked up these brass drawer pulls several months ago at a consignment shop.  I am just waiting for the perfect project so I can use them.

Brass Drawer Pulls

Sharing my Love of Gold

Check out the gold ruler and gold scissors.  My husband picked these up for me.  He knows me so well! The gold and white journal came from T.J. Maxx.  I am keeping a wish list with images of future projects that I would like to tackle. I keep all of this minus the drawer pulls on my desk in my office which you can see here.  I really love this space. It suits me perfectly!

White Bowl from Goodwill

I scooped up this little white bowl at Goodwill.  I like that it is kind of like a pedestal bowl.  It also has what looks like lion heads on each side of it.  There is just something special about this little bowl! Now I  need to find my every day white dishes and finally part ways with my blue, maroon, gold, and green Longaberger dishes.  I know what I want, I just need to bite the bullet and do it!

White Pedestal Bowl from GoodWill

Technically, my last steal is not a thrift shop find but I still want to share it with you all.  I picked it up at the grocery store in the floral department.

AIr plant in white bird planter

As soon as I saw it, I thought it would be perfect on my thrift shop three tiered stand which I shared here.

Decorating my Thrifted Three Tiered Stand with Thrifted finds

I have added both the white Goodwill bowl and the air plant to my tiered tray.  I am so glad I chose to paint the stand white.  I think it looks so much better white than black. I like switching out the pieces on the tray too.

Today I was able to go outside and get a few pictures that I want to share tomorrow.  We have been getting hit with so much rain and today was the first day without it.  As much as I am getting tired of the rain, it has made our lawn and landscaping nice and lush.  The rain is moving back into our area this weekend which is slowing down another project that we are in the midst of.

We, mainly my husband is working on our garage.  We need to have good weather to complete the flooring which seems like it will be awhile before that happens. I cannot wait to share that with you as well.  Maybe I will do a quick post on the before and during stages.

I hope you have enjoyed this installment of Thrift Shop Thursday #28, My Love of White and Gold Continues.

Until Next Time,

How to Revamp and Style Your Thrift Shop Finds

March 20, 2016 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Today I am sharing how to revamp and style your thrift shop finds.  Last week I shared with you the corner cabinet I found at the consignment shop.  It was in pretty good shape when I found it but it still needed a little revamp.

Revamping and Styling Consignment Shop Finds

I think the easiest way to update any thrifted find is with paint.  It is a quick and inexpensive way to completely change the look of a piece or just a way to freshen it up.

I wanted to freshen up the corner cabinet by spraying it with a bright white paint to match the other bookshelves in my Home Office. Here is a reminder of the piece before I sprayed it.

White Corner Cabinet

I think this piece is adorable, it is small with really cute detailing.

To add more height to the cabinet, I added a few tall vases to draw your eye upward. I found the wooden vases at Target.  I wanted to add wood tones to break up some of the white. I also added touches of gold to tie into the rest of the gold scattered throughout the office.

I was finally able to use my HomeRight Finish Max Sprayer that the Gman bought me for Christmas and I am in love with it! It was super easy to use.  The most difficult part was getting the consistency of the paint correct and even that was pretty simple.  I was so excited to get started even though it clearly states in the directions to practice spraying on scrap wood but I jumped right in and started spraying my cabinet.  My biggest regret is not being able to use the HomeRight Finish Max Sprayer sooner.  I was able to spray the entire piece within minutes and the finish is so pretty.  Now that we are moving into Spring, I am super excited to be able to spray more pieces!

Gold bookends from Target

My Target clearance sale find…loving the gold bookends.

Styling a Bookshelf with unique pieces.

I picked up the little mouse votive in a little boutique shop in a small town not too far from us. Even though mice freak me out, I thought this little guy was sweet!

I love adding unique pieces to my shelves.  You can read about the Typography DIY art here.

The next time you are out and see a piece that needs some love, remember the power of paint!

What I am Loving at the Consignment Shop

February 29, 2016 By stylishrevamp 3 Comments

Last Thursday I stopped at a consignment shop that moved into our area a few months ago.  I am kicking myself for not stopping by sooner.  It is only two streets over from the gym.  Two streets and two seconds away!  I have been driving by it 5 days a week for months and didn’t realize it was there! Now that I know it is there, it could be trouble!

I have consigned with this shop before when it was in it’s previous location.  However, the new space is huge and the inventory is amazing.  So today I am going to show you what I am loving at the Consignment Shop.

Thrift Shop Thursday #23: Christmas Finds

December 10, 2015 By stylishrevamp 2 Comments

Welcome to this weeks edition of Thrift Shop Thursday #23.  We are sharing some of our Christmas Finds from local consignment shops and our favorite store… Goodwill!

Thrift Shop Thursday #23 sharing some of our Christmas Finds

The first item up this week is a paper village set.  I picked it up because it reminded me of the village my mom always put under our Christmas tree. I think that was one of her favorite things to do, set up her village.  I would lay under that tree and stare at that village and dream for hours, it was just so pretty and seemed like the perfect town.  It was such a lovely scene.  I come from a family of seven and I am the only girl. It would not take long for one of the boys (who will not be named but we all know who he is) to drive a remote control car through the villages and rapidly try to restore it back to its original state before mom walked back into the room! Boys!  Now I have three and wouldn’t have it any other way!

When I saw this paper village set by Christopher Radko it was so reminiscent of the ones from my childhood, I knew I had to have it.

I picked the entire set up for a few dollars at a consignment shop.  They are not vintage pieces but they do look similar to the ones my mom has under her tree.

The next piece I am sharing is one that I picked up at Goodwill for $5.  It’s one of those pieces that my husband just looks at and shakes his head.  Well, it was only $5 and I had a plan for it.

Metal Christmas Tree from Goodwill

My original plan for this baby was to hang all of my vintage ornaments on it.  That didn’t work.  The metal branches are too close together to hang the ornaments on.  I still like it and think it looks fabulous as is…it is still not a favorite for my hubby.  I am thinking Santa can put a few small presents under it and we are good to go!

My last find for today is another Christmas Tree. This one is a Christmas Tree card holder. I picked it up from Goodwill last summer.  We love displaying the Christmas cards we receive each year. We used to tape them on the door in the kitchen, then I made a ribbon to attach them to one year but this tree is my favorite for displaying the cards.

Christmas Tree card display

It is perfect.  Everyone can see the cards and it is easy to pull the cards out and read them at any time.

That wraps up this weeks Thrift Shop Thursday #23: Christmas Finds. I hope you are enjoying this Holiday Season as much as I am.

Until Next Time,

Thrift Shop Thursday #8

May 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

I almost did not have time to fit this weeks Thrift Shop Thursday in today.  My middle guy was in an accident, thankfully he is fine, just a bit bit bruised and scraped.  Mostly, he is just devastated about his 1996 F150.  He’s a bit like me with the old and vintage pieces!  My oldest is home from college which adds on another entire level of chaos. As for me, my hubs, and the Gman, we are trying to fit in some more exercise.  I will be the first to admit, it is getting the best of me!

Alright, enough about us, on to Thrift Shop Thursday #8.

Thrift Shop Thursday #8

Up first, I am sharing the bowl on our foyer table.

Thrift Shop bowl

We found this pedestal bowl at a small consignment shop near our home.  I like the leaf details that make up the bowl. It’s just a sweet little piece that adds something different to the hall table.

The drawings above the hall table are also part of Thrift Shop Thursday #8.

Thrift Shop Thursday #1

March 26, 2015 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

It’s no secret that I have a bit of an obsession with thrift stores.  When I say thrift stores, that is kind of a broad statement.  I will hunt for great deals at thrift stores, consignment shops, Goodwill, yard/garage sales and even roadside rescues… in other words, someone else’s trash.  So I thought it would be fun to start a new series on the blog where I share my favorite finds of the week.  So this will be week 1 of

Flea Market Finds

September 21, 2013 By stylishrevamp 5 Comments

Remember I told you my youngest and I went to a Flea Market, a few yard sales and a Consignment shop last weekend.  We had a lot of fun even though we didn’t find a lot of stuff.

Flea Market

It is the thought of finding that one great thing even if it doesn’t look so great when you find it!  I asked my middle son a couple of weeks ago when he was with me at The Island Home if he ever got sick of driving me all over going to my favorite spots and I just loved his answer. He said, ” No Mom, I think it is pretty neat when you see something and and tell me you have to have it and I think what does she want that_____ (insert any word that a teen might use to describe some of the things we bring home from the side of the road) for because I just don’t see it.”  He then tells me that he thinks it’s pretty cool how my projects turn out!  Anyway,  this is the first thing I found at the Flea Market and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
