I have been working on several projects and haven’t gotten around to finishing any of them yet! We are back from our Easter trip so I am ready to get busy and complete some of these projects.
Here is what I am working on at the moment.
I picked the credenza up at Goodwill for $40. I am going to use it as a tv stand in my sunroom here at the house. It is a heavy solid wood and it has wheels on the bottom which I love because I am always rearranging the furniture in the house. It also has a lot of storage for my tv components and other things I want to tuck out of the way. The top is a bit damaged and it is missing several pieces of the hardware which is fine by me because I am changing them out anyway.
We have an armoire that we use now. I still like it but want to switch things up a bit. It is very tall and narrow so I wanted something long and low. Plus my husband would like a larger tv!
So far, we sanded the entire piece and took the top all the way down to the bare wood. I had to bring out the big guns for that because I got a bit tired of sanding.
Thanks B.K.
I stained the top with a mahogany stain. I did three coats and I still need to touch it up in certain areas.
I am going to paint the base with chalk paint. I might try a homemade version on it which is two parts latex paint and one part plaster of paris mixed with a bit of water. Or I might try the Chalk Paint that Home Depot is now carrying. Have you seen it? It’s DecoArt Americana Decor. It comes in 16 oz.containers which means I would need a lot. I will post more pictures once I start painting. It always take me a while to do the first coat of paint because I get nervous that I won’t like it and I dread the thought of sanding AGAIN. I never like the first coat on anything I paint then I get in a bit of a panic and think “What have I done.”
I also wanted to share my Anniversary gift with you that I love, love, love!

Have a great weekend! If I get started on the painting I will post an update!
