When we were in Maine last summer I saw the Nautical Code Flags for sale in many of the shops. They were made of wood and they were used to spell out different words. Instead of forking over all that money I kept thinking that I could make them myself for next to nothing. Well, today was that day.
Supply list: wood cut to any size you want. I used 6″ by 4″
Acrylic paint in red, white. blue, black and yellow
foam brush
painters tape
Once I decided which letters I was going to make in the International Code Flag, I taped off the design and painted my first color. Once that was dry, I taped the second part of the design. This is what I ended up with and I have to say I am glad I didn’t buy them last summer because they look just like the ones I saw in the shops without the big price tag!
I am not sure where they are going but I do know I will find a home for them.
[…] We just taped off the nautical signs… same process as we used here. […]
