Easy Ways to add Simple Fall Touches

October 11, 2020 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

Today I thought I would share some easy ways to add simple Fall touches to your home. Last year I went through my Fall decor and donated a lot of the things that I thought I would no longer use. When I pulled out my bins this year, I was kind of thinking I had made a mistake in getting rid of some of my decor. Things were looking a bit sparse at first but now I am enjoying the simple Fall touches and using items I have on hand with a few new additions.

It has been almost one year since my last post and it’s not like I have been too busy either. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, I have pretty much been homebound. And I mean homebound. I started the shutdown full of nervous energy and completed a lot of mini projects that needed to be done. 4 months into the pandemic the energy started to fizzle. Now that Fall has arrived and we are entering into my favorite time of year, I am perking back up! I hope you enjoy my mini Fall Tour. Here we go!

Adding simple Fall touches

A few new items this year is the mini riser that the pumpkin is perched on and the stems with the mini pumpkins. I ordered these from The Nested Fig. I love this online store. I also follow Wesley on instagram @FarmShenanigans. Love, love, love his stories! I have learned so much from him and have gotten a lot of great inspiration from all the decorating tips he shares.

Fall Dining Room Decor

I also added my Dollar Store DIY pumpkins. You can see the DIY here. I have also been using these battery operated remote candles from Amazon and I am loving them. The last items I bought were two vintage tablecloths from ETSY.

Decorating with vintage tablecloths help create a curated look that I adore.

I purchased the tablecloths from PollyFrog on ETSY. I just added them to my vintage copper pots on my buffet, a simple and easy way to add Fall touches.

Decorating with Gourds

I rounded out the Dining Room decor with a few gourds that I have had for years and I added a couple of mini jack o lanterns to my teak boat ladder that we picked up at a yard sale a few years back.

In the kitchen, I kept it simple with my sign that I made two years ago. I placed it above the cooktop. Notice the toilet paper pumpkin my youngest made in preschool 14 years ago. Don’t think for a minute that I didn’t think about dragging that out at the beginning of the pandemic when toilet paper was nowhere to be found!

DIY Fall Sign

In the living room, I added pops of orange with pillows and a throw that I had from previous years. I also used my favorite pumpkin that my older boys picked out over twenty years ago which I guess makes it vintage now.

On the hearth, I filled a basket with a Fall pillow, a cozy throw, and a pumpkin.

One of the most used rooms in our home is the sunroom. I kept it very simple in here. I scattered a few pumpkins and that is it.

Adding pumpkins and greenery to a bowl adds a bit of Fall in the sunroom.
I placed a mini pumpkin by my wire vine to add a bit of whimsy.

I love this little table. It has been moved from room to room but I think this is my favorite spot. I picked it up at a thrift store a long time ago and it’s been painted about three different times. A cheap and easy refresh!

As for the outside, I kept it very simple with pumpkins, a few mums and ornamental pepper plants.

I have shared this plant stand before. When I went home to visit my parents, I took my mama thrifting and I found this. It used to be on the porch of my mom’s neighbor when she was a child. I just like that it is now on my back deck, it’s a little piece of home.

That wraps up my little Fall home tour. Now that we are into my favorite time of year, hopefully, I will be posting a bit more. I hope you all enjoyed this little glimpse into my home.

Sharing Autumn Leaves and Pumpkins, please

November 3, 2019 By stylishrevamp Leave a Comment

…until Thanksgiving that is!

I am a little late to the Autumn/Fall game but I thought I would share a few spaces with you that are still dressed in all their orange glory.  Look, I love Christmas as much if not more than most.  I’ll admit, with most of my home decor projects, I always have Christmas in the back of my brain somewhere. For example, when I buy new to me furniture from Goodwill, it’s on my mind, Will my tree still fit in the room? Will the new lamps look good with the Christmas tree? Will that color look awful at Christmas time? You get the idea.  Now, having said all that, I still wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating.  So in the meantime, I hope you enjoy my Fall pics while the rest of Pinterest and Instagram are full of snowy white, beautiful Christmas trees with twinkle lights.  Full disclosure, I am all over the Hallmark Countdown to Christmas though! Now on to Fall decor which will stay up until after the Thanksgiving turkey has been consumed.

Copper ladles bring Fall Touches

First up, these copper ladles I found at a consignment shop. I knew if I got them, I was going to add them to the hooks on the vintage buffet in the dining room. It’s the things that I go back and forth on buying that  end up being my favorite finds every. single. time.  I will leave these up year round.  I like the copper touches in the dining room.

I added white pumpkins and greenery to my dough bowl.

I added a few Fall touches to my dough bowl that I’ve had for many years which happens to be a consignment shop find as well.  Another budget friendly item I used in my Autumn decor is the white pumpkins that I picked up at the Dollar Store.  Although, they did not look like that when I found them.

Faux pumpkins from the Dollar Store

(Dollar Store Pumpkin)

The first thing I did to these faux pumpkins was remove the fake flowers and berries.  I did save the stems. I gave them I quick coat of chalk paint that was completely dried out. (Just add water and stir, stir, stir) I reattached the stems and added some Spanish Moss that I had on hand from Michaels.

Sharing Fall Ideas through Thanksgiving

A basket full of pumpkins!

The basket was another Goodwill find that I absolutely did not need. When I came home from my Goodwill trip the hubs was home and I was not about to let him see me carrying yet another basket into the house so I hurried up and hung it across the dining room chair. Quite honestly, I forgot the thing was hanging there hiding from my hubs since we only use the dining room 3 times a year at best. So that is how the Goodwill basket came to rest in the dining room.  I completed the look by adding some pumpkins! (Side Note…I did completely scrub the basket with hot soapy water and let it dry outside.  I had a four hour window to get it done one day while said hubs was golfing)  I am not sure what our Thanksgiving plans are yet but if I do cook and we have dinner in the dining room, I’ll let you know if the hubs notices the basket!

Hmmm, another basket that has been hanging out in the dining room.

Mini pumpkins in my office

I scattered mini pumpkins throughout the house.  I switch things up a bit from year to year but not too much.  I like the memories associated with all my pieces especially now that I have zero trick or treaters in the house.  It brings back memories of when the boys were so excited to get out there and run door to door.

You can see my post from past years here and here. In the last link, you can see my DIY sign for Fall that I used again this year.  I also added my Goodwill pumpkin candy dish.  Other than that I kept the kitchen relatively  simple by adding candles and mini pumpkins to my tiered trays.

Off the back porch, I added smaller mums and mini pumpkins to my green plant stand.  Another secondhand find.  This one comes from my home town which makes me love it even more.

Well, that’s all I have to share of Autumn leaves and pumpkins (and a few hidden baskets). Coming later this week, I will share my updated sunroom space. Whether you are decorating with pumpkins or Christmas trees, I hope you have a great week.

Until Next Time,
