When I bought two new chairs for the kitchen table I carried the old ones upstairs and put them in the closet. They have been in that closet for 8 long months… Waiting and waiting to be revamped. I reupholstered the other four that I use in the kitchen at the Island home but for some reason I just didn’t have it in me to complete the final two. I was dreading pulling out the nailhead trim. It is so time consuming but I have to say this time around it didn’t take that long at all. Maybe that is because I snuck outside and I wasn’t disturbed by the boys needing one thing or another. Plus it was a gorgeous day. So here is the finished kitchen chair.
I think she turned out just perfect. This is exactly what I was wanting to do but it just took awhile to get started.
My supply list included:
Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Wax
Canvas Paint Drop Cloth
White Fabric Paint
I had everything except the drop cloth which I picked up at Home Depot for about $5. Once I painted the chair with two coats of the paint I used the wax and let it set for several days. Today, I tackled the reupholstery of the seat. It is not the type of seat that comes off which was another reason I was dreading this project. I just had to cut at a 45 degree angle by the chair legs and fold over the raw edge wrap it around to the bottom then staple. It got easier as I went along.
So here she is before
One more chair to go and I am so done, done, done!
