I feel like this week has totally gotten away from me. Things have been crazy busy. Over the weekend, my husband and I took the Gman to Universal Studios in Florida. He is a huge Harry Potter fan. It all started when he was in the third grade. I would read one chapter a night to him. I was so sad when we read the very last chapter of book 7. We read from that series every night for almost two years. It was so sweet to watch him in the park. I am so glad that is something we were able to share with him.
Since we have been back home, I have been trying to get back into the schedule of school and the gym. I am also slowly decorating for fall. By the time I get around to it, it will be time to start decorating for Christmas!(I have already started shopping…I know that drives some people crazy when I say that.)
O.K. getting back to Thrift Shop Thursday #20. This week I am sharing some of my finds from the past. When I went to Goodwill earlier in the week, I found another Ironstone piece so I thought I would share some of my earlier pottery and dishes that I have been collecting. Most of these treasures have come from Goodwill with a few from consignment shops as well.
I have shared this photo before in my dining room reveal. When we revamped the dining room, I knew that I wanted to add a collection of white and cream dishes and pottery to the shelf over the buffet. I had seen some shelving decorated with white dishes on The Wood Grain Cottage and fell in love with the look. I love her style. She is opening up an online store on Friday and I can’t wait to check it out. Anyway, since I knew the look I was going for, I would swing by Goodwill several times a week and look for pieces that I liked. It still amazes me what you can find. My husband used to say when I got home, “What did you get now?” and I would always respond with the price. “Well, it was only 75 cents” or “it was only a dollar” He no longer asks me what I bought. Smart man!
This is what I picked up this week.
I adore this little creamer. Yes, another Goodwill treasure… a vintage Ironstone piece. Do I need it? No, but it will it look good on the shelf with the rest of my white wares. Yes!
Thrift Shop Thursday #20
I have shared this photo before in the dining room redo as well. Almost everything in this photo came from Goodwill with the exception of the shot glass and tray and a few of the plates. This is one of the most inexpensive ways to style a shelf and I love every piece I have found at second-hand shops.
The last two photo are from my post White on White in the Kitchen.
I just read an article yesterday on the top 10 trends to NOT follow from Pinterest. One of trends was the quotes like I have pictured above. Well, I don’t really care that some may think it is not trendy. My oldest son bought them for me and I love them! They mean everything to me. I feel like that is what decorating is all about. Fill your home with things that you like and things that hold special meaning to you! So, I may not be on trend but my home is filled with all sorts of things and they are all the things that I love and that makes our house a home.
I hope you have enjoyed this throw back Thursday version of Thrift Shop Thursday #20.
Until Next Time,
