Kitchen Tour on the Island

April 14, 2015 By stylishrevamp 4 Comments

Today I am sharing an updated tour of our kitchen in the Island Home.  I had previously shared the kitchen here.  Even though it was dark and stormy when we were there last, I just love how it feels so comfortable and cozy on our little point on the Island.

White Kitchen Tour in the Island Home

The bright white kitchen with the farmhouse table is the center of our home. It opens up to the dining area and the family room.

Open kitchen, living, dining room space(try to find Gman)

This photo  shows the open concept.  I like the feel of this home and the flow from one room to another. The vacation home is a place where we all hang out and the boys are not off hanging in their rooms. Even when we are in separate rooms we are still together.  When you have teens and tweens, that is not something that happens all the time.

Antique Farmhouse style table in white kitchen

The kitchen table is one of my favorite pieces.  It is a piece that we picked up in a previous home that we owned.  We bought it from the former owners.  At first I hated it! It was stained a really dark and dreary color.  The chair seats had an old dated fabric  on them.  I kept it intact but reupholstered over it with a blue and white ticking stripe.  I sprayed the chairs white so the weren’t so formal looking.  Once I sanded down the table and stained it a lighter color, I fell in love with it.  It is hands down my favorite piece we own.

antique hutch painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

This was an old hutch my husband owned when I met him.  It was sitting in the basement for years.  I have painted it several times.  When we brought it to the Island Home, I decided to paint it white with the Annie Sloan Chalk paint. I first showed you the hutch here. I accessorized the hutch/cabinet with thrift shop finds and free driftwood that I found.

White kitchen with Gray Island

We painted the Island grey and used a different countertop than the rest of the kitchen.  I like the contrast. I also collected different stools and painted them white so they were cohesive. They are easy to pull up for extra seating in the dining room or family room when needed.

Mixing White, Black and stainless steel in the Kitchen

I want to paint black numbers on the stools but so far no one else likes the idea.  It will be something I do, and the naysayers will just think it was always like that!

Sea glass in vintage jars and a DIY driftwood whale

I made this driftwood whale that you can see here.  In the background, I have sea glass and old broken pottery pieces that we collect. These pieces wash up on shore on the Island.  I love putting the sea glass in vintage jars and pots that I have scattered around the house. I also like to put sea glass in clear lamp bases.

DIY Grocery Sign in the Kitchen

I showed you this DIY Grocery Sign here.  I love this little sign. I got the inspiration for the sign from a Sarah Richardson’s episode on HGTV, I think it was called Sarah’s Summer Cottage.
